We conceived a way to use my mother as a porn mule

Here have a 2 part effort post on knockoffs I got from ebay/wish today:

First poo poo:

Needed a HDDVD to check if my Xbox360 HDDVD Drive actually worked before selling so $5 HDDVD from ebay seemed ok!

First off I bought this drunk and completely forgot that HDDVD was completely dead far before Harry Brown was released:

Ooooh gotta love that knock off label on an inkject printer:

And lovely disc:

Front

Back complete with disc rot!

I probably caught some disease from that disc. Bonus is that it won't even read on a DVD drive! So I can't even watch a poo poo rip of a cool movie!

Revenge of the Shittening:

This was a crafty little scheme from wish.com! Multi-layered far more than I expected (one layer of deception). I needed an NVidia GPU with CUDA support for some GPGPU stuff (Photogrammetry):

Wish.com had a GTX 1060 for like $90. I figured these are going to be completely burnt out mining cards or at least a BIOS swap GTX 980. A notable scam.

Nope, they doubled down at this point and there was the usual "buy with 'brad' now for $x less only in the next few minutes". I'm getting scammed - wish are really good with refunds (if slow), I'm all in! So what happened when I clicked on that 'buy with brad' link it sneakily swaped the card out to a GTX780!

Well there goes any chance of even a GTX960. Contacted support and got the usual 'please wait until delivery' and take photos. Fine.

Today is the day!

Ouch - took a few hits!

Open box and behold the generic china CD-ROM that has all sorts of viruses. This won't be touching my computer:

Confirmed direct hit, your best guess on how it bent that bad!

OK unbent as well as I could but a fantastic sight to behold - the fan stickers removed, and the very generic twinfan/heatsink combo found in dodgy GPUs:

Flipped it over - hmm 'GTX780Ti' indeed, maybe things are legit enough to swap out a GTX1060 to a GTX780Ti which for my purposes is enough power.

I risked it and put into my PC as a secondary. For the viewers playing at home feel free to spot the difference from a legit GTX780:

So, who has some answers? Yup, CUDA cores, the type of PCI-E and speed, Memory amount, and of course GPU-Z with its updated fake spotter!

So what is it? Obviously this has some BIOS fuckery going on and not much can be trusted here. So at least lest see what Chipset it physically is, can't trust that sneaky BIOS:

Cooler off:

These bent fins are from factory and are like speed holes:

Well so it IS a GF116-200-KA-A1:

I'm no expert but cehcking this repository of information there isn't a single GPU with that Chipset variant with 4GB:
https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/nvidia-gf116.g88

Wow, at it's best it's a GTS 450 Rev. 2

And no luck with my cursory search of the memory modules simply labeled 'E109CBAW9401' with no branding. There are 4 on each side of the PCB however.

Anyway, my name is Humphreys and I bought some knockoff poo poo that I have now got refunds for. Stay tuned for more poo poo!

Man, they really went all-out on that GPU. That's an impressive(ly lovely) bootleg and I'm glad you got a refund for it.

The hosed up thing is that it WORKS and as a passive GPGPU card it will actually at least do what I need (slowly). If I was to be a kid all excited I can play whatever BR game is coming out- - I would be pissed off.

Ha ha drat, that's a step up in terms of bootlegs. Even if that thing worked just fine I wouldn't have even bothered with how bad the end bent and the grotty cum-stain remnants of the stickers from the fans.

I can also only imagine the quality of the media on the disc with the rot, let alone the actual movie it would've played despite the box and front print :allears:

Not only is it going to be a fake card. But the UBI shipping and 'Botany' as location is a HUGE tell that its a scam and not from Australia.

It's close to the airport so presumably a location used by people who are re-shipping things delivered from overseas. I often get packages that have been mailed domestically by the vendor slapping a new address sticker over the original one that shows the package was sent from China to a commercial address in Australia.

I think he can hear you, Ray.
The Lepin subreddit has a great guide for the best sellers to use, both on AliExpress and elsewhere. And whatever you want chances are someone has built and taken pictures so you can check them out first.

Also, there's a ton of Hasbro knockoffs that are genuine improvements over their official counterparts.

I don't like it when you're watching me eat.

I think it's "sabor", which means flavor or taste in Spanish.

But unless that just translates into "tasty", I think that's just as weird

Haha. They would sell this in Cancun, and in any other vacation place, back in the 90's.

There's the skeleton version and another one with iguanas. Who designed those? I have no idea, but they were popular in my country back then.

Don't take the meaning literal. In this context is just and exclamation to imply something is sexy hot. (It's also a catchphrase that singers shout in cumbias/tropical music).
