People are syked because their favorite anime character killed the NK, but it doesn't make any thematic sense. Arya doesn't give a gently caress about the white walkers, she barely found out about that poo poo like 2 episodes ago. It makes more sense for literally anyone else to kill him.

Sansa should have been the one to sacrifice herself to kill him, that would have been a really good moment for her. A D level player like Dolorius Ed could have done the deed and it would have made more sense.

It wasn't bad, certinaly more engaging than episodes 1 and 2. Danerys had some actual acting going on which was a nice change, the Arya kill was cool, but made no sense thematically.

The problem I have is that every little fanfic or theory is more interesting, makes more sense, and is cooler than what we actually see happen. When random goons and reddit'ers on the internet do a better job than your writers at writing a story, then your writers suck.

Haven’t watched the episode yet but I am spoiling the hell out of it for myself because lmao who cares

Arya killing NK is really stupid as described, but it would have been better if she disguised herself as Bran then leapt out of his wheelchair and murk’d him

Really though this is just like how Theon should have killed Ramsay—Jon should have killed NK

Or have Bran warg into NK, march south and sack Kings Landing, then chug a tall glass of wildfire to kill two birds with one stone

If you need Arya to do some sort of badass ninja kill, let her kill Cersei, aka the woman she’s wanted revenge against for nine years now

If you really wanted to stay true to the spirit of the books, have NK murder the poo poo out of most of the named characters, then have him die a completely unsatisfying death offscreen, like he trips and falls into the embers of a campfire or something. It would be a hilarious gently caress you to the fan base rather than a half-assed attempt at fan service like we actually got

I can’t even imagine what they’re going to do for the next 3 eps if NK is dead, teleporting pirates and a queen with no friends seem like pathetic excuses for antagonists after you just murdered and unstoppable ice zombie

Lol that Gene Wolfe handled "threat of an impending ice age" far better over 2 pages than this show did over 8 years

Also I just watched the clip of Arya killing the night king. Did someone launch her from a trebuchet? Why is she hurtling towards him at 60 mph? And gently caress me it's like those Wall battle scenes from season 4 all over again. Everything is murky as hell and it's impossible to tell what's going on.

Arya killing Night King is fine as a concept, but the way they had her do it was retarded as all hell. The most prolific silent assassin that the Faceless Men have ever turned out comes wrecklessly jumping in screaming, and the relentless ultravillain they hyped for eight years turns out to be just another lovely necromancer with no melee ability.

Where did she warp from? The other walkers feel a wind blowing, they made a point of showing that... so she dashed past them? Someone said she was hiding in the tree, but the wide shots make it look like the branches aren't nearby?

I don't mind the idea but it was done so poorly. Much like everything past season... 4?

Queen with no friends, but a gigantic fresh army, after the zombie army killed basically everyone. They won, but I'm pretty sure with like 90%+ losses. Weren't basically the only survivors the ones who got inside the walls?

They'll probably have at least half an episode devoted to the fact that "I'm the rightful queen" Dany now has literally zero forces left to back up her claim, if Jon or Sansa feel like pushing the issue.

In true superhero fashion, the Hound picked her up and did a 'fastball special' hurling her toward the NK.

Also, way to show all the main characters literally getting covered by zombies in the last montage to deflate all of the tension re: will they die or not, right before answering that question.

Uh... Kupo?

I bet Dany is just gonna be so pissed that she uses dragon(s?) almost entirely in place of armies and just burns loving everything to get to Cersei, and Jon ends up needing to kill Dany. I'm thinking the writers are bad and Jaime is going to go back to Cersei, Varys will die to something stupid, and Tyrion will be on trial again maybe executed because, again, writers are bad.

While a more knock down dragged out fight with the NK would have been cooler to establish him, I think the overall decisions to deal with this now and then wrap up by dealing with Cersi and the throne is good and right. The NK was always an overall looming threat but second to what everyone else was doing to each other for the Iron Throne. And Arya slaying him was cool but lol. And Lady Mormont killing an Ice Giant was cool too but wish she’d have lived. The dragon fight was good and so was NK’s smirk surviving the fire. The whole battle was rough and having winter storm was good in theory but not the most clear. Melisandre showing up and igniting fire was good too.

Dany not flying away and letting some ice zombies hurt Dragon was retarded tho. The Night King was shown a threat and it was all overwhelming hopelessness. I do agree there’s not a lot of imagination or unique creativity with regards to tactics and such so it feels like retreading all other movies that do this type of battles. But the opening of the fight with the fires going out and a literal zombie wave was scary and well done as was when the NK resurrected everyone to fight for him. Just overwhelming.

Also shows like this or Lost suck rear end, GRRM suck rear end, cause they start strong but you soon realize they don’t know what they are doing and meander and stretch things out everywhere until it’s time to end and pull poo poo out off rear end that doesn’t always satisfy. Plus as audience you’re used to poo poo and develop your own head story or what you like after a while so what you see disappoints. Battlestar Galactica started great and they even went “Cylons have a plan” but then after New Caprica you realize everybody didn’t know poo poo of what they were doing and it disappoints cause now they pull stuff out of butt as they go along.

It’d help to complete a story and have enough tricks up sleeve to keep things varied and audience interested. If you can’t do that and give something new then you’re gonna get a disappointed audience.

This episode was fine and they’re actually concluding the drat show.

I like to think she had no clue and was just egging on everyone she could in the hopes that one of them would fulfill her dumb prophecy, and "either way I'll be dead by dawn" was more a reference to getting eaten by zombies.

OTOH Battlestar went in the opposite direction. This show's doing "yeah the supernatural was a major threat but in the end it's all, still, coming down to which human wins the power struggle for the throne"

Battlestar was like "religious intervention whaaaaaaaaat"

I kind of like that the show is gonna end with what it started with: idiot humans bickering over the throne.

Eh, I meant more that the Northerners and Jon/Sansa can now be like "gently caress off lady Jon is our king and not only is he our North King he's also apparently the legit Actual King, so double gently caress off" and she doesn't have a giant army of Unsullied and Dothraki to be like "nope I'm queen"

Plus at this point I wonder if the 2nd dragon is now more loyal to Jon than to her.

The preview for the next episode shows Dany toasting and a bunch of Northerners cheering though, so most likely it'll be resolved pretty quick, probably with "well we'll just get married like we were thinking before"

e: or she could just be like "ugh I never want to see this shithole again, you can have it and I'll be queen of the Six Kingdoms" or something
