Working at a marketing company and also having empathy is pretty hard, even as an IT person. I had to work on a video problem during a meeting and they were talking about expanding to more markets. Key points that are totally normal: "We want to make the brand appeal to that gay mexican immigrant" and "target that consumer that feels marginalized because they're black and listen to country" The only thing in the room was white people and irony.

Accenture is huge and has people all over the world working on international projects, which is great for your cv and experience if you're in a developing country as a developer. As far as I can tell, anyone I've met who's worked there has rarely lasted more than a couple of years, so that knowledge churn can't be great.

Remember that time during the recession Chase took $20bn+ in money from the government secretly while publicly shaming other companies for taking money from the government and claiming that they're a stable rock that's going to help the government stay solvent and other dumb poo poo like that? No idea why that memory just popped into my head right now, weird.

Ford did the same, they got a low-interest loan from the government to stay afloat but publicly advertised not having taken any bailout, unlike GM.

if not for her "capitalist to her bones"-ness, 2019 warren seems like a pretty goddamn good democratic nominee tbh. id volunteer for her in 2020 if my Bernie! MyBernie! gets beaten by her in a non-ratfucky way. hopefully she pulls him even further left on those issues she is to the left of him but bernie is gonna win, so whatever. also, lmao at that lady wanting to turn her dead boyfriend into an ad. id haunt my wife so goddamn bad if she did that even as a goof

But really, why are pencils yellow? Is the yellow meant to evoke the sunny cheer of back-to-school season? Is it so the pencils are easy to spot when you drop your writing utensils on the floor? Or is the yellow some sort of special anti-decay varnish? None of the above. As it turns out, there's actually some fascinating history behind the signature yellow color of No. 2 pencils. "During the 1800s, the best graphite in the world came from China. American pencil makers wanted a special way to tell people that their pencils contained Chinese graphite," explains a post on Pencils.com, an online retailer of writing supplies. "In China, the color yellow is associated with royalty and respect. American pencil manufacturers began painting their pencils bright yellow to communicate this 'regal' feeling and association with China." lol sure

well she thinks big banks can exist but should be accountable, which any bank significantly big enough (coincidentally much smaller than any of our big banks) will resist with force i like warren a lot, but she's got the michael lewis disease of believing in a kinder, gentler, more responsible capitalism.

Warren could make a good veep. She's almost a decade younger than Bernie, and it's probably worth having a safety net rather than putting all our eggs in one eighty-year-old socialist basket headed into one of the most stressful and assassination-prone jobs in the world.
