Haven't played in a long while but I hear shotguns are stupid powerful right now and everyone is quitting. I don't think this nebulous launching of the game is a good thing. I don't even know what phase Hunt is in right now, is it EA? Is it beta? Is it out? I think that a firm launch date with the associated marketing has been a successful thing in the gaming industry and elsewhere, I'm not sure why you would want to steer away from that formula.

Shotguns are in a great place right now, anyone who complains about them being too overpowered is an idiot. Also the game runs really really well now (as in framerate) since mid January, they desperately need another free weekend on Steam to get more people to try it.

I've never run across such a wide range of loadouts before, and almost everything except for caldwell small ammo guns is good.

they already toned down the accuracy buff from 5.0, and now they're reducing the range buff as well. I'm not gonna say shotguns are back where they were pre-5.0 but closer to there than when they first put 5.0 out for testing

I have clearly missed a lot but going over this patch - What are red clues? Anti camping of some sort? I clearly missed that - the gist from what I've googled is that clues change colour if there are other hunters near by? How does this address the far bigger issue that is people camping bosses and waiting to play clean-up? Or is that part of it? At least when I played, that was 90% of encounters/deaths - fighting/killing the boss and being interrupted by people that had been waiting, instead of engaging when they got there first.

Clues turn from blue to red if enemy hunters are nearby. I'm 99% sure its just if you can visually see the clue, its not on darksight. I know a bunch of you think I'm just constantly cheerleading this game and glossing over problems with the game/dev but boss camping isnt really a thing now in my experience. Just going off my experience the last time I played, especially during the solo tourney - where nobody ever engaged first, because they knew they'd just end up getting jumped. Everyone tried waiting to kill on extract instead, or at the least 'third partying' during the fight. Also 'being more observant' is loving laughable when it's so easy to hide near enough to be a threat once the boss encounter starts. I'm not even opposed to it -it's a viable strategy, and definitely has risks (mainly waiting around gives more people time to arrive) - but dismissing it as 'git good' is pretty pathetic.

I kind of wish they would come up with some kind of f2p or freemium model for this game. It’s super cool but the community is tiny. Something like if you buy the game and lose everything your base line dudes at at THIS level (money, rank something). But if you play for free your base line is at THIS level of poo poo (less money or something). Or you just earn money at a lower rate or something. Or maybe free players only get a single hunter slot.

I pretty much only play with 1 friend anymore and we run across the same 50ish players constantly. If they want to get players they need to do more than a free weekend. they need to do like a free WEEK. give people the chance to get past the 'god I suck at this game and I die to zombies or a bullet I never saw coming every time' tier of play into actual games. Honestly, this game has kind of a rough up front appeal and a difficulty curve like hitting a brick wall face first. Once you get in though, that's when you get hooked.

Yeah I had a good run with this and always want to come back for new updates but finding consistent and full games in Aus these days is a pain in the rear end. Shame because the game is loving good and very original. Will stick to Insurgency and Mordhau unless things pick up!

I love this game's atmosphere and weapon designs, but I hate having to play with others. I guess I should play on Australian servers? Also why, for the love of god, can I not center the crosshair in the center of the screen instead of the stupid Destiny-style "lower third of the screen" position.

I'm having quite too much fun in Quickplay. It suits my kamikaze sprint-everywhere approach, since I am always the first at the wellspring. It's also pretty neat to just experiment with odd loadouts and sometimes scraping by the skin of your teeth. I played 4 rounds tonight and won twice - the first time sniping with an obrez from a rooftop (that thing is way too accurate) - and the second with a silenced Sparks and a Sabre, where the last dude I killed blundered into one of my many, many bear traps and let me ambush him from the ceiling like a ninja vampire.

I guess I should clarify. The obrez sights sway around so much that getting a good aim is drat near impossible for me but yeah it'll hit what you're aiming at.
