Closest I got to automotive sanity was switching from sedans to wagons. Room for baby seats and toddlers/kids but my adult passengers still bitch non stop about no leg room. Ironically the wagons I drive have 2 inches more legroom than the sedan of the same platform. Volvos are not good for american sized adults with american sized adult friends. Doesn't matter still has a turbo.

It might be worth 700+ bucks but DONT photo Ironman. JFC 12 hours and still 6 to go. Ugh. And over 11000 photos. My 1D might actually top 15000 by the end of the night

Wife took the kid to her parents on Thursday so I cracked some old glowsticks and dropped the needle on some drum n bass. I found one of the glowsticks yesterday morning and that sucker was STILL glowing. I'm gonna have to buy these again if I can find em.

fridge corn posted:Something about trapping obviously pet cats really doesn't sit right with me sorry Initially when I did it I was trying to trap strays and ended up trapping pets. It’s illegal to let cats out here so it’s on the owners, animal control takes them and the owners get fined so it’s pretty simple, don’t let your cats out where it’s illegal to do so or they could get trapped and put in kitty jail.

Did a deep clean of the Juke and Escalade this morning. Juke cleaned up great, until I was cleaning the underneath of the hood and found rust starting on the leading edge underneath. I was already debating about selling it, that's the scale-tipper. It was a good car. We've had it 5 years, which is a new record except for my long-time Miata. Now it's time to throw more money at another stupid car.

Suburban Dad posted:You're presuming quite a bit based on one internet post. I even said that I shouldn't complain given my circumstances aren't that bad, but sheesh bro. I'm very grateful for where I am, and have worked hard to get here given where I came from and poo poo I had to wade through to get here. Not to say I didn't have privileges, I recognize that, but still. Everybody has poo poo to deal with and we all deal with it in different ways. I don't like feeling stuck and locked into a job that I'm not content with and haven't been for a couple years. It's the feeling of not being able to do anything about my situation currently and my lack of patience that are a bummer. Young kids are a lot fun but they will absolutely wear you down and take up all your time. So of course I wish I had more time and freedom, but here we are. I've never been a fan of work and wish I had more time to do things I actually like, just like most people I'd guess. You're absolutely right and I hosed up. That was me projecting my own insecurities and lack of empathy. Your problems, however much I'd like to be in your shoes, are still problems and I cannot discount their impact on you. I apologise for my words and will do my best in the future to be less of an rear end in a top hat. MC Hawking fucked around with this message at 20:09 on May 5, 2019 |

Outdoor cats pretty much should be counted as pests, seeing as how they're some of the main contributors to declining birds numbers. I mean, there's at least one cat that's responsible for the extinction of one species of bird. Grated, it was on an island, but still.

Took the kids out for an afternoon kayak trip yesterday on a river we've not been on before. Nasty tstorm caught us, saw it coming and took "shelter" under a tree until it passed. Apparently another group of kayakers north of us capsized and had to get rescued. It wasn't fun and I regret not bringing a change of clothes, but we were eating BBQ by 6:30 so it could have been worse. If I had been home, would have worked all night. My phone rang at 930am and I've been at work since. ATM I'm hungry and waiting on some rear end in a top hat to come open a gate. Protip: if you're power is out, and you call in for service, probably a good idea to unlock your gates so we can get in there.

Friday the kid had a 100 year celebration for his JROTC battalion. Yesterday we went and walked through a zoo for a special event giving them presents of extra food. Was cool. Got up at 1:30 this morning to drive 80 minutes to a dark sky area to see the starscape, drove home, slept for an hour, then got up and ran a 5k. Fiancee and I both passed out for about 4 hours afterwards. Good weekend but we're both exhausted. Graduation for me is next Friday to finally finish my degree and new job starts Wednesday. Gonna keep looking because the pay is less than I made 3 jobs ago but it's back to full time at least after school knocked me out of that for a while. ilkhan fucked around with this message at 22:19 on May 5, 2019 |

My first supercar problem happened! I'm driving the Aston and I notice the steering wheel is sitting about 15 degrees off center when I'm going straight. There's no play, and the car doesn't pull when I take my hands off the wheel. It straightens out under hard acceleration, and goes back to crooked when I let off. I'm like "Oh great, something went horribly wrong. Guess I should get home." Two blocks from home, I get a lovely warning light with the message "DSC Service Required. Traction control temporary [sic] off." Fuckin great.

Something's broken/loose/worn out. I suppose you already surmised that. Someone made it for me forever ago in a "draw other people's usernames" thread. And yeah. I didn't hear or feel anything sudden so I'm hoping it's a worn bushing or something simple? I'm pretty pissed that the dealership didn't catch it - they said they looked over the car several times. Hopefully they just cover it because I can't imagine it was something I did in a few hundred miles of not terribly hard driving. Edit: Google says the control arm bushings are not replaceable and you have to buy an entire upper control arm. And that you need to do both at the same time.
