my wife might spend around that for personal grooming. eyebrow/mustache wax, color and cut each month (she keeps her hair cut very short). I'm on the hook for like $20 every 5-6 weeks ($15 cut, $5 tip). $94 for the average American seems out of whack, but I'm a goon who hasn't ever really given a poo poo about having well styled hair. I couldn't even begin to guess what a "good" cut costs for a man at an upscale place

$170/month on lunch is what, $5/day? That's pretty reasonable imo. I CBF reading into it deeply, is it saying that this is "extra" spending, like on top of the home packed lunches these people "should" be taking? Also personal grooming is ridiculous. My partner was on tv recently so she went to an upmarket salon to get a good hair cut. Cost her $250 (NZD) and the hair dresser (I think she was called a "stylist" at this place actually) was working on 4 people all at once and was so busy she left the hair dye in too long which left my partner with some burns on her neck. It was a good hair cut though tbf e: and of course she didn't complain because she understands that then the stylist would be punished for it and the salon would go on booking like 4 people for her at once so the owner could continue to pocket like 80% of his workers' earnings voiceless anal fricative has issued a correction as of 20:37 on May 8, 2019 |

capitalism is psychologically abusive people living in the system are bombarded with messages to consume, advertising is everywhere and the entire point of it is to manipulate people into buying things they don't need. but then the same system will shame people for buying things and consuming too much "buy our product, what are you some kind of loser?" "wow you poors need to stop buying so much stuff, what are you some kind of loser?" it's a toxic relationship and we must sever

If you watch a lot of How It's Made, a lot of places that prepare food using machinery have x-ray equipment, it's one of those 1 in a million "screw fell in" type of things. Which means Tyson has, thus far, cheeped out on a common food prep precaution and got caught. (your tinned corn or whatever has probably been xrayed more than you have in the past year.)
