Hell, I'd take the base game but with a new translation. See how much of the story I missed because I was nine vs how much of the story I missed because it was badly communicated.

The only proper translation of the game would involve completely removing Cait Sith from the game in favour of a new human character called Iscar Matthias.

Every voice sounds different. They've had a consistent cast since Advent Children save for Aerith so it's strange they'd get a totally new group now. I guess Capcom did it but...gently caress it's annoying.

That kinda looks like they just took FFXV and made an officially licensed FF7 total conversion mod for it. Which, fair enough, better than spending some absurd amount of years developing custom engines for games only to use them once or twice.

The only way I'd accept a new FF7 retranslation would be if Tim Rogers would do it if only so we can continue to torture him by having him go over the FF7 script even more than he's done over the past 2 years.

A friend of mine pointed out that video includes a scene that isn't in the original game at all. Cloud meeting Sephiroth on some sort of collapsing highway, which isn't a match for any of Sephiroth's appearances. Certainly not his first one, which is in a cargo hold. To me, that reads as them cramming Sephiroth into the Sector drop, I can't think of anywhere else that would fit. So, yeah, so much for this even being faithful to the story.
