If she wants to find more millennials who believe that the sole governmental mechanism for reducing abortion rates should be a strong social safety net for pregnant women and mothers, then i dont see a problem

I think the biggest issue I have is that she keeps framing it as 'well obviously abortion is immoral and bad so we should reduce the need for it' and that just keeps supporting the really vile language around abortion used to shame and scare women away from it. That's the same reason no one trusts Tim Kaine and other 'personally pro life' people, if you still genuinely view abortion as 'murder' and 'unethical' than how can you be trusted to center the conversation on the woman needing it rather than the vague theological 'ethical issue'. Like, she doesn't talk about it much for a reason any more, I listened to a chunk of a conversation with her and it was straight up 'I think abortion is immoral and bad, we need to reduce it' and then any time someone used a concrete example ranging from 'right but what about rape' to even just 'yea but these safety nets aren't perfect and your ideal solution still involves telling a woman she should spend 9 months as basically a living incubator just to appease your own moral view' she defaults to 'well gee that's a hard choice isn't it?' without actually acknowledging the problems. She wants it both ways, she wants to be the ~pro-life leftist~ who gives pro-life groups blurbs about how it can be lonely being pro-life on the left, but when it comes to acknowledging the views in a deeper way than playing victim she just wants to shrug and say 'wow...life is rough huh....' 'Strong social safety net for pregnant women' doesn't actually answer the question. It's good, no poo poo, but that's not the answer to how you square the circle of being 'pro-life' on the left because it's still refusing to acknowledge that the women she's talking about don't want to be pregnant period.

nobody in my family is pro-life and we're all catholic. my dad goes to church every sunday and on all the holy days too. you don't have to follow every rule your religion says or else it'd be fine if catholics thought gays shouldn't marry.

"Abortion is totally evil buuuut" always just hits my ear the same way as "Well I don't PERSONALLY know how I feel about (LGBTQ group) but yea I guess the law should be fair" does in my own life. I don't really think Liz is some crypto-fascist but I just never got why so many gave her a pass for her weird social stances just because she prefaces them with 'now sure I write articles about them and tweet about them but I don't really want the LAWS to reflect them'. Like, isn't she still all 'I'm not saying prohibition was good but maybe the  stuff proves we have a real drinking problem as a culture'?

Why haven't the leaders of Venezuela and Iran just given Trump a hotel deal? North Korea just did a nice photo op and that was enough to get him to back off. Remember how he went from talking about Saudi Arabia and 9/11 on the campaign trail to bragging about selling them weapons? Just project his face up on a wall like they did and he'd probably give them nukes. Really, it's Maduro's fault he hasn't just done this

I’m watching the Seth Meyers’ interview of McCain that they mention. I skipped it in my viewing of the episode for obvious reasons, thought it would be softballs like her dad used to get. It’s a lot of that but he does give her some pushback. 2 statements of hers have made chuckle/roll my eyes. As a quick adlib about how she was treated as an intern at SNL and if her father had any influence that. She goes “that helped a lot,” completely oblivious to how that never stopped. Also talking about how “life is so short. I just lost my father 8 months ago.” He was loving 81, that’s better than the million Iraqis and countless others whose deaths he facilitated w his hawkish policy.
