Demons of the Ruinstorm trip report! I played a 2500 point game with Olloth last night using the following list: Alpha Legion Primary Detachment Autilon Skorr 10 Tacticals in Rhino 10 Assault Marines Tech Marine with Conversion Beamer 3 Rapier Laser Destroyers 3 Land Speeders with grav and multimeltas 10 Destroyers 10 Cataphractii Allied Detachment Chosen with Rending, Defensive Grenades, Rift Barb (Tzeentch Herald model) 10 Lesser Demons with Corrosive Vomit (Pink Horror models) 6 Brutes with Smash (Chaos Spawn models) Greater Beast with 3+ Armor (Dark Elf Kharibdyss model with spawn bits) 5+ FNP on all demons  We played the Onslaught mission which is basically one objective in each player's deployment zone worth 5 VPs. Called it a draw in the middle of turn 4 due to running out of time and both objectives being contested at the time, with no clear player having an advantage at either location.  The updated destroyers felt about right. They basically cancelled out 5 terminators and a champion with a paragon blade.     Unfortunately the greater beast never made it on to the table due to bad reserve rolls on my part. I really like how corrosive vomit (basically a flamer) on the lessers is 1 shot per 3 models, but can come from any model every time it shoots. I don't have to micromanage positioning nearly as much. However, the real stars were the brutes. At toughness 6, 3 wounds, 5+ invulnerable, and 5+ FNP that can be taken against almost everything due to high toughness, they were extremely hard to kill. I think the unit took over 100 attacks during the course of the game and only lost one model. They were shrugging off lascannons like they were no big deal and just tying up everything.    I kept the demon upgrades minimal mainly to not overwhelm myself with rules the first time playing. I can see how they can get pretty nasty once you start giving everything rending and such.

I think having something that can take out brutes in my all comers list is going to be very necessary in the meta, and visa versa once I get my demon/demon allies on the table too. I thought I would get through with some volume of fire but T7 until turn 3 is rough. They would have dropped to T5 the next turn if we kept playing, I think I might have started to turn it around, but it all depends on how those dice rolls went. At least I could wound on 5s then but I was having less and less on the board to deal with them and you had tacs coming up for me to shift off an objective even if I cleared up the demons. Looking forward to giving it a try again on a different mission/deployment.
