There's a Burger King on JBLM right across the street from the army airfield, and occasionally while getting lunch I'd see those guys practice low level hovering maneuvers in their chinooks. Crazy how well they can handle those things.

The craziest thing is the Chinook is our fastest helicopter.

I feel like keeping it top secret was just to keep everyone from realizing that their big idea for high tech assassination was “Drop a big hunk of metal on their car.”

Fake edit: essentialy same but without the contractor graft

# ? May 9, 2019 19:45 |
IIRC we also have very small warheads that are designed to more or less blow up a car and nothing else. This just seems like a slightly safer version of that. Like if they're driving through a really busy area or standing around at a wedding reception.

Is the 30cm or whatever increase in the diameter of the "kill zone" really worth the gazillion bucks they paid to develop that rather than just replacing the warhead with some random heavy object and trying to bean people with the rocket

I mean, it's not like the Pentagon deskpusher who drew up the specs and ordered this thing will face any accountability anyway. This is like Project Orcon but there was nobody to tell the inventor to gently caress off with his stupid bullshit. Vincent Van Goatse fucked around with this message at 22:24 on May 9, 2019 |

I swear like at least half of these projects must be the result of some mid-level officer in the Pentagon daring another to see if he can get some stupid idea approved and it always gets approved. We need to get Slippery into the Pentagon so the Airmobile Groverhaus can finally see the light of day.

shame on an IGA posted:I'm still shocked every day I wake up and fentanyl-dispensing civilian quadcopter murderbots still aren't a thing Cartels have used drones to fly drugs around. Surprised more drones aren’t use by irregular forces though. Strapping bomb to a drone is so easy a caveman could do it. Also rc cars with bombs... or full size rc vehicles. Guess it’s just easier to make suicidal dudes drive them.

Turning the hydraulics off is when it gets fun. e: I should add I mean the larger ones, smaller ones like the Little Bird actually take a ton of control touch and are relatively harder to fly.
