I'm inclined to agree... the quality seems to go in tandem with the quality of contemporary pop music, which I can't say has really blown me away in recent years. And many of the older pop tracks seem to have been mined to death. Since I like fun music that doesn't take itself too seriously, I've branched out a bit to artists like Father Funk who have danceable remixes of pop hits thrown in their regular mix. Here's a fun remix of Lenny Kravitz's "Fly Away", and here's a whole set of his from the Shambala festival. Edit: Here's the tracklist from the Shambala fest. Skouteris is once again my favourite of the year. His song choice is always perfect imo. I do always enjoy Mashup Germany for all the German music I wouldn't get to hear otherwise, and I may or may not have shed a tear at the end of the people we've lost this year bit. Otherwise I've been very meh on the others (particularly disappointed by Isosine, who's usually fantastic), but I'm entirely willing to admit that's just because I haven't been so into new music this year.

I wouldn’t mind seeing that Louis Armstrong bit developed more. There was another spot or two but I’m too old and don’t know many of the artists anymore. There are some in the older mixes I would’ve liked as full tracks too. Sometimes I feel like they sample along too much, I get trying to show off, etc. but maybe I’m just getting old and like to develop a groove a bit more.

A few years ago Yamataka eye (of Boredoms) made this dj mix under the alias “Dj Chaos X”. It’s basically a bunch of randomly assorted tunes mixed with classic punk songs.
