I had the displeasure of driving an Leyland made ambulance several years back that was imported from the UK. That video is pretty on point. Never in my life have I encountered such a badly designed ball of loving poo poo. Brit engineering, particularly their vehicles truly is garbage. A lot of industries like to look at quality and the impacts you get on a Monday or Friday in a shop between absenteeism leaving them shorthanded or people there not really being into it. I'm far away from knowing anything specific about it but I like to think English manufacturing had a hard time getting away from liquid lunches and a dinner round the pub so the entire work week was always like a Monday or Friday.

I'm sure it's nothing to do with management not spending time or money on QA or efficiency in the way that Japanese car makers did, and instead relying on a safe domestic market that would never be open to competition.
