It's such a shame because the MkIV Supra is pure sex. Also, I'm way too upset that they put a BMW engine in it. The MkIV was so good because the engine was a bombproof legend. Like, this is seriously the next step?

Toyota is also limiting the power on the Supra compared to the z4 so that might also play into reliability or they just want to keep that extra power for a performance version or some poo poo who knows.

Of all complaints I think the engine is probably the most silly. BMW makes good I6s. If you're going to partner with anyone on powertrain for an I6, BMW is the logical choice comedy cummins option

Given Toyota's general engineering practices I would expect they took a long, hard look at the b58 before agreeing to put it in their halo model. I like the look of the new Supra but can't help but feel they're only going to sell 500 of them.

One of the things that annoys me is the canard at the front in black and the fact the actual bumper carries on underneath it to finish lower and just hangs there in space. I really feel like if the entire front lip joined with the sides and the canard was on a carbon lip at the same height or lower it'd look a bunch better. But yeah, the door vent is so bad, particularly compared to the FT concept where it runs over the door and rear quarter and looks like a sculpted part rather than a stick on bit covering a manufacturing defect. It's a very odd looking car when you actually examine it, some very strange design decisions.

I also have a massive, unapologetic boner for MR2s of all flavors. And yeah the ST185 looks great (as does the ST205) but Toyota crushed sports car design in the 90s.

Look, I'm a victim of the environment in which I came out of. But I am willing to make ammends and change the way I view things. I'm still going to go try it out on its own merits and make an impartial decision. We all make mistakes and since I'm not doubling down on mine I'd appreciate you guys cutting me bit of slack instead of carting me through town while people throw vegetables at me for a public crucifixion just because I violated thread orthodoxy with a minor irrational worry. It's almost like you were all waiting for one slip of the tongue just to dogpile someone because it brings you pleasure.

I dislike the idea that how people perceive me based on the car I drive is super important to me, such that I would not buy a car that I otherwise liked because it might send the wrong ~message~. It seems really insecure to me. It'd be no different if you say, really wanted a Raptor but were worried about looking too much like a bro.

I had a great life. My wife and I were making a healthy living. Two kids, a dog and a nice acre in a beautiful suburb. This woman was the love of my life. Then the Miatas came. It started slowly, I started seeing dicks in everything I looked at. They piqued my interest. First it was flipping between tabs showing cold air intakes and the less savory bi categories on porn hub. Then it grew to looking at turbo kits while furiously scrolling through Grindr. I've been on the streets of Castro now for 4 years. Going from apartment to apartment trading bottoming for a pull out to sleep on, or pulling out to sleep on top. I haven't seen my kids, they would not even recognize me now. Miatas, not even once.

New car question: I’m renting and the choice was between a Sentra, a Rogue, and an EcoSport. I chose the Ford. Did I make the right choice? I feel like “stay out of Nissans” is a good rule of thumb for life.
