So if Mysterio is standing close enough to hear them, is he just behind a doorway in the alley behind them or something?

huh, so the earlier stuff was actually excellent foreshadowing. the previous strips about carole in this arc established that she is prime cultist material. even more specifically, she was very open to the message of "you suck but i love you anyway".

Meanwhile, Peter has heard "You suck but I love you anyway" so often from people that it just doesn't affect him anymore.

Terrible director, who absolutely would would kill an actor to save a paycheck.
Woman with a grudge against MJ, who seems shocked that she actually fell off the building.
Bearded guy, who wants to replicate a murder attempt to get the perfect shot.

This one happens all the time. Just as a semi-recent example, Leo wasn't supposed to cut his hand during his big racist speech in Django Unchained, but they worked it into the scene. A lot of props collapse when they aren't supposed to in movies and they work it into the action scene.

Hell, the Wampa in Empire Strikes Back is only there because they wanted to explain Hamill's face scars.

As much as we all joke, I'm really loving these strips. I wasn't around to read the strip back in the day so getting brand new (to me) Romita-drawn Spidey stories is pure gold. Like people would just get these in their newspapers every day? That's maaaad, lad! Although not any different than getting Bill Watterson genius in the paper every day.

Yeah but none of those were an actor almost dying on set. Also those examples work with the script, while they make it seems like MJ wasn't supposed to fall off. They would need to rewrite entire scenes during production and that's gonna gently caress with locations and scheduling.
