I'm posting in the GroupMe RIGHT NOW and I still recognize all these names. All you gotta do is ask if anything is going on, or ask if people want to play whatever you've got on hand. Someone will heed the call.

Edit: I found this in the GroupMe gallery. I don't know if this is you, Dr., as I haven't seen you at the one Shots Wednesday I've been to.

This is true and is also the most magnificent side-effect of that picture existing, even beyond all the other ones. Yes, those are definitely the lamps, and I love that the action figures were so completely incorrectly sized for the "project" that you can only even debatably see all of one character's arm out of all four of the lamps.

We regret to inform you that it is Jafar.

I am not even mad about that being such a terrible picture of me considering it is an accurate representation of the tragic experience of being near me

I don't go to Shots Wednesday because my car crew (which this year is looking to be like a convoy crew) likes to do a thing together on Wednesday night (lately, it's been Yard House) before we end up all going our separate ways during the con.

I'll pretty much do shots (of things other than Malört) whenever, though. Gen Con is basically my only regular vacation. (Bonspiels don't count, those are serious competition (that also tend to involve a good amount of drinking).)

Shots Wednesday

to begin at 6pm Wednesday at The Rathskeller

Be there and be square. They close at 10, so we're starting early.

It is an uber, not a walk. We will sit in the outdoor beer garden, because it does not require a reservation or hard numbers, as is tradition.

There is an outdoor entrance to the beer garden, you don't have to walk through the likely very crowded restaurant to get there.

Have they always closed at 10?

Edit: It still amuses me that the German beer garden serves "French Asiago" pizzas.

Oh yeah and might as well finish up my Old Threads Recaps

...A Lynndie England avatar somewhat appropriately greets me from the Gen Con 2006 thread, and by the third post I am foreshadowing my horrific future by complaining about how weird it is that Gen Con threads never break a single page considering how awesome the event itself is. Awww, StolenMerch complaining that his connected hotel was over $110/night :monocle: Whoa I posted from the convention that must have been the one pre-smart-phone year I brought my laptop and decided even I would rather do anything else there rather than use my computer in my room. Eww, Quarex, talking about the most attractive woman you saw at the convention? How 2006.

Everyone is free to point and laugh at my 2007 thread that only counts in that I asked what the differences were between Gen-Con, Origins, and DragonCon, as at that point Googin' Origins was even more pointless than it is now and I could not get a read on whether DragonCon was actually for gaming or for getting drunk (appropriately). Wow, Arzakon here mentions that Gen Con So Cal was smaller in its entirety than the Exhibit Hall at Gen-Con proper. No wonder nobody talks about it, if there was nothing to talk about.

And then Seorin posted a kind-of actual 2007 Gen Con thread but really its only goal was to solve the convention-wide puzzle I just realized I have not even thought about in years (do they still even do it?). Five posts total and only the first post was made before the convention started. Gen Con!!!

Gonna go ahead and do an entire post on Nesbit37's 2008 Gen Con thread, as it deserves special consideration for being the best of times and the worst of times at once. Pros: Upbeat opening, nostalgic reminder about the bankruptcy scare, first time attending outside Milwaukee due to getting over his feelings of betrayal (good for you my friend!), assumes correctly that the Auction must still be great. Cons: No replies.

And finally we have a sleeper thread I missed in 2009 my first go-through, though uh, uh... it might actually be the saddest thread of all, as it is Doctor Malaver trying to figure out what is going on with Gen Con Paris 2009, which, well... though thanks to this thread I did just notice for the first time that the global recession coincided nicely with the end of non-Indianapolis Gens Con.

Edit: Post is not quote-reply-edit
