Jon learning about his lineage made him stop loving his aunt, which probably was the tipping point for her to go scorched Earth. So Sam literally made the world a worse place by telling Jon about his parents. Basically every single person would have a better outcome if Jon was still ignorant: King's Landing isn't nuked which is probably good for the tens of thousands that got burnt up, Jaime doesn't die in a pile of rocks, etc.

I still think it's weird that he never actually specified that this was his reason. Like, I'm certainly not pro-incest, obviously, but at no point does a character actually say, "loving your aunt is weird and wrong."

Hell, I can't remember a character actually saying, "Dany is Jon's aunt." I'm super down with a show respecting its audience and assuming they can read between the lines, but let's be honest, that sure as poo poo isn't what this show has been doing for a very, very long time if ever. So the absence of an explicit reason for not loving his aunt is weird*.

*I mean, no it's not, obviously, because you shouldn't gently caress your aunt, but considering the tone of the show, I'd have expected Jon to give a big speech about how it was wrong, because if there is one thing this season sure as poo poo is not, it's subtle.

The in show explanation would be that he's horrified that Dany killed his best friend's family after they surrendered. The behind the scenes poo poo has Weiss saying it's because she's his aunt and that makes it weird.

Jon immediately ditches Night's Watch, since it's not needed and they only did that to make Grey Worm happy and Grey Worm immediately left the continent.

Sansa personally beheads him as an oathbreaker.

Oh, I meant, like, he should just go back to Winterfell. Because what the gently caress is going to happen, his sister or his brother are going to demand his execution? He'd get a royal pardon immediately.

This invokes one of the criticisms of recent seasons that I think is super valid and on point: the show simply cannot stop switching back and forth between framing character's actions or responses in accordance with modern morality versus (ostensibly) medieval morality. There's no reason for Jon to be that skittish about hooking up with his aunt. Lords marry their cousins and other close relatives all the time, both out of convenience and to keep the family wealth secure. We can probably assume it's common among Westerosi smallfolk as well. He wasn't raised in the Targ tradition like Dany was, but it's well known Targs married siblings for centuries, despite the risk of inbreeding.

He and Dany didn't grow up together and seemed pretty solidly in love (as much as one can expect for what is a romance of months at most) before the lineage bomb dropped. We're supposed to assume that Jon is uncomfortable because of the new knowledge because we're uncomfortable with it, rather than any one of the logical reasons (lingering guilt over Ygritte, anxiety over a relationship with a powerful woman, inexperience on his part, stresses of rule, etc). It's one of those things that could be resolved with a conversation between the characters but since no one actually talks to each other on this show except to move the plots pieces around it's just left undeveloped.
