number always go up partly because index funds are the only way to try to be able to afford to retire one day?

theoretically there should also be retirees selling off their assets at the same time

the most important feature of the move from pensions to people having to fund their own retirements from index funds is that now the financial companies get to skim off roughly a zillion billion dollars in fees every year from everyone.

i love paying 1% of my savings to financial companies every year, this is so much better than taxes

btw the plane was specifically sold as being ready to fly without retraining, which is why they included the suicide software because the plane actually handled quite differently from other 737s

Maybe this is nitpicking but it wasn't just sold that way. It was designed that way. One of the top line requirements was to certify under the 737 type certificate and minimize the amount of required retraining. This was so they could better compete with Airbus.

Boeing and the FAA were complicit from the start in getting this plane on the market regardless of the dangers. MCAS was only a token effort to make it seem they were doing something to mitigate the danger.

I had an epiphany recently that seriously tempered my lust for number death. The entire financial system is one big circulating dragon horde where wealth never leaves once it enters. Money may leave the Dow Jones temporarily because president good brains tweeted something dumb, but it just migrates to some other investment instrument temporarily to wait until another promise of trade deal just around the corner. I mean what else are they going to do with all that cash? Invest it into new operations, build something or trickle it down into the work force?:cawg:

According to my deep knowledge*, the A320neo flew the same as the A320 because they could keep the new engines in the same spot, while the 737 MAX required the engines to be moved up so high they almost eclipse the wing, on account of the 737's original design having very low wings. Thus is was more prone to pushing the nose up and they put in the suicide software to compensate, so they could claim retraining wasn't needed - which the FAA rubberstamped

the way to win stocks has always been 50/50 S&P ETF/Bond ETF split and then never look at it until you're 65. Anything that costs over 1% in fees should be ignored, including most mutual funds. You're looking for 0.5 or under

everything else is dumbass speculation that props up the market that supports the people who make it to 65

california's transit housing bill sb50 was smothered in committee today - it's officially off the table until january 2020

this was the bill that would've basically eliminated single-family residential zoning statewide. i guess the housing crisis is just too profitable
