They're not horrible, but not great. Brutes/scraps deal roughly the same damage and are sturdier.

At 50, with a ton of global recharge, you can run perma Light Form, which puts you somewhere in the same ballpark as scraps for sturdyness... except that you lose 50% of your hitpoints every 90 seconds. :bang:

Eh, the HP loss is kind of irrelevant when you're at 85% resistance capped to everything and Reform Essence is on a short cooldown.

The 50% endurance loss is the real issue. Cardiac is the solution though, as it so often is.

Just edit the Scale value in your costume file and load it up in the editor. -36 is the furthest the game will let you push the value, which gets you about an extra half a foot shorter in height.

Note that if you go back to one of the costume NPCs who can affect your height after doing this, you'll need to load the costume from the file again or it'll force you back to the slider rules instead of the secret real rules. But other costume NPCs won't force the size to revert.

I also remember with Paragon Chat you could edit database stuff in a really fucky way to use most NPC costume pieces. I'm kinda wondering if that's still viable for a live game, but I don't wanna risk a ban to find out. :v:

Does anyone have nice things to say about Grav control for a dominator? I have a character concept I really like that uses Grav/Dark, but I'm up to level 12ish and it just seems like it sucks. Lift and propel are cool, but as a dom I don't need damage in my primary and everything about the set seems so slow. Worse, half the powers seem useless or actively detrimental. Wormhole sounds rad, but is it actually any good? And is that enough to make a set? I rerolled as Mind/Dark and it's a lot more fun, but it kinda borked the concept.

While I'm here, curious if anyone has much to say about Martial Arts/Ice vs. Martial Arts/Dark on a scrapper. I really dig the ice armor look, but it seems like dark armor has more synergy with MA's stuns. Basically, playing this game is a constant struggle for me of fashion vs. utility, worse even than Dark Souls, to the level where I honestly think it's making me develop both autism and OCD and then pitting them against each other. Help.

Also, how do I get into the goon chat channel? Any way we can get that into the OP?

It wasn't that because I saw that mistake in this here thread a bunch. The guide in question gives an incomplete bind command, inasmuch as it assumes you've created the text files right in your C: drive rather than in a folder. I just had to redirect it and it worked, though I have to be careful about not activating the binds for the minions I don't have yet.

I will probably never, ever let this go, but if they'd taken the storyline in a cosmic direction right off the bat, so many of those issues could have been sidestepped. The incarnate system wasn't necessarily bad for storytelling per se, it just didn't work with the sort of stories they clearly wanted to tell, regardless of how well it worked or how sick people were of the (by that point) mundane setting.

Hell, they held a poll some time after CoV and before Going Rogue which basically turned out like:

While the low-level Praetorian content turned out to be some of the most well-written and thought-out content of the entire game, the incarnate content it led to was basically just a lot of running around and farming the same batch of assholes everyone had been farming for the Accolade since Issue 1, when in fact people had been drooling for a proper showdown with Rularuu or a comparable cosmic threat ever since Issue 2.

Oh, sure, that was also part of the problem. The whole deal with Rularuu and the Shadow Shard is 8000% more interesting than the Battalion. But ultimately the Incarnate system was an endgame loot treadmill where player power would just keep increasing, so they needed to keep throwing more and more big cosmic threats on top of the pile to keep up with those power gains. And since the Incarnate system only ever offered raw mechanical power, those threats needed to be stuff you could punch, most likely in a raid setting where you had to avoid standing in fire at the same time.

No big surprise that the system was designed by a power gamer who gave almost zero shits about storytelling.

I remember it working on live, but here it says it successfully saves or loads, but... it doesn't actually do anything.

They've been working fine for me, though I don't have any custom binds or anything, just basic stuff that's generally automatically saved. Make sure you're hitting "apply changes" or whatever it is before exiting the options menu.

Variable Haircut posted:

On a different note: there was a new command added that works wonders with MM binds/macros/popmenus, powexec_location. This removes the 'click' portion of powers that need to be manually placed, like summoning pets and dropping AoE's.

I don't remotely remember how it all works, but I25 also adds the ability to customize macro buttons to look like whatever you want. So you could turn Tar Patch into a targeted AoE and even have the icon on your power tray still look like Tar Patch.

Platonicsolid posted:

Indeed. The main thing is that costume files point to specific parts in specific categories so shifting stuff around too much causes anyone going to the tailor to have their costume defaulted to the game's best guess of what should be what. In theory they still should have been able to alphabetize everything at least.

Grav is a late bloomer. Wormhole is absolutely amazing and Singularity rules.

Dark's stun synergy with MA is incredibly minor in the grand scheme of things. Go with the concept you like. Don't worry, it'll be good.

I'm increasingly tempted to waste money on a version of :justpost: that's :justroll: in the City of Heroes font.

I experimented with sliders once I got off work, and found that there is ONE other place this works, and it's more specific than this one. Minimum height can be smaller on everyone. But maximum height can only be taller on HUGE characters.

Max height slider for Male and Female is 36, but on Huge it's cut down to 25. Why? Because at 36 they visibly do not fit through doorways. They're too tall, too wide, they're HUGE. It's really good

Works the same way, edit the costume file, change the Scale value to 36. Don't look at the height slider ingame or it will reset to the slider max instead of the numerical max.

Enjoy being large
