Yup! We were second place before a bad loss to Atalanta at home and slipped to fourth, Vittorio Cecchi Gori (Co owner with his dad Mario) fired our manager live on TV, Radice, and we never recovered till relegation.

Rumour was that Vittorio's much younger wife, Rita Rusic, a then extremely beautiful actress of Italian trash movies, was cheating on him with Radice's son, a football player. Hence the sacking when in fourth place.

The owners were a famous family of movie producers, most Italian movies at the time were theirs. Vittorio, the son, was basically ADL with more coke. He ended up bankrupting us through multiple frauds to save his movie business.

There was a shocking incident ahead of the Serie C promotion play-off when Arezzo President Giorgio La Cava was knocked out, apparently by Viterbese fans.

La Cava had just saluted the travelling supporters in the stands ahead of the game when he was reportedly insulted by both home fans and stewards working at the stadium. As he walked into the tunnel, someone punched the Arezzo President in the back of the head, causing him to briefly lose consciousness. The tension in the stadium escalated with Arezzo fans threatening retaliation, so police urged director of sport Ermanno Pieroni and vice-president Massimo Anselmi to speak to his supporters both in person in the stadium and via Facebook at half-time.

“The President is fine, let’s stay calm and focus only on supporting the team. Let us not fall into the trap of provocation. The second half we’re about to play represents a year of sacrifices for us. We can’t play into the hands of our opponents.”

Arezzo won the game 2-0, having already won the first leg 3-0 at home.

I don't think they're having financial issues other than what I'm sure are recurring payments regarding the Ronaldo transfer. Their publicly traded stock lost a lot of value when they got knocked out of the CL but that's it.

In all seriousness, if this move happens I'm all for it. He fits the profile for what Juve need at CB (young, tough, good at aerial challenges), and the €15m clause isn't an absurd number in this day and age.

It's a loving steal if he's actually any good. 15 mil is practically nothing, especially for someone who has already played in the league.

Unless Juventus have enough money to buy Guardiola’s brother control of a football club like City did, I don’t think they have enough money.

It's getting even messier in Serie B due to the Palermo thing: they cancelled the playouts (the knockout matches to determine relegation) so Venezia and Salernitana are safe, Foggia relegated.

edit:

Bonus :italy: : this move was requested by Salernitana, one of the three teams that should have played in the playouts, thus saving... Salernitana. Reminder: Salernitana's owner? Lotito.

More mess: Lazio's court (the final grade of appeal in Italy) has lifted Foggia's 6 points penalty they started the league with, meaning that playouts are on again; it will be Salernitana vs. Foggia if I'm not mistaken.

i mean not great as in unable to afford to buy out pep's current contract, offer him the wages he would demand and buy the players he would want if the goal was the CL?

he spent 72m net at bayern and then 487m at city, when i said "not great" i mean "not able to afford pep and his new players"

e:

quote:

According to the Sun, the 48-year-old is set to be rewarded with a lucrative contract renewal as he enters the final two years of his current deal.

Guardiola’s salary will rise from £15 million to £20 million per season if he agrees to the terms, earning him £100 million over the next five years.

Most likely the rumours are from Juventus itself whose stock has been gaining the last few days, coincidentally, after losing so much post-Ajax :tinfoil:

It’s this or PSG at this rate and they look poised to fall apart in a few years. I don’t think it’s going to happen this year but once ronald is off the books it’ll be inevitable.
