I hope I'm wrong, but I personally believe Bolton, KSA, UAE will conduct real false flag attacks to force a pointless US first strike.

I dunno about the rest but MBS definitely would, even (maybe especially) without tacit approval from the US. The Gulf is going to get real interesting when he becomes king.

Katyusha rocket launchers were handed out to anyone and everyone who wanted them post-war as they are incredibly simple, easy to maintain, and easy to use. Best known for the very distinctive sound they make while firing

volkerball can give you more details on why the Shia menace must be starved, bombed, shot, and its sympathizers vivisected if America is to ever know peace, but if iran wasn't funneling them some kind of aid it'd be incredibly surprising

the US navy intercepted a few dhows carrying weapons from Iran to Yemen, although in theory they could have just been regular independent smugglers, which are in fact quite common in the region. The strongest evidence of Iranian support are the missiles the Houthi used to target coalition ships, which as far as I understand it were not something Yemen had prior to the current conflict and were probably Iranian designs. Most of the rest of the evidence is circumstantial, like statements of support from Iranian leaders.

The Houthi are heavily inspired by the Iranian Revolution so they have definite ideological links to Iran, although all evidence suggests they have received only a small amount of direct aid. Iran certainly doesn't control the Houthi and has far less influence over them than it does over say Hezbollah.

Aiding the Houthis is so in line with Iran's regional and ideological objectives that even if there were no evidence whatsoever they've been doing it, I'd find it difficult to believe they aren't.

But yeah, even so it's unlikely they have meaningful clout over the Houthis - if they were offered a deal where recognition meant cutting off ties with Iran, they'd do it in a jiffy. In fact, that seemed to be the armistice the DoD was arranging with help from Oman, but the Saudis didn't like it.

weird how people who are fighting everyone on all sides try to prioritize feeding their fighters.

It's not quite that simple, but yeah. The Houthi are prioritizing feeding their fighters, because they're the only thing that's keeping the Saudi coalition from doing what they want to North Yemen. If we want aid distributed more equitably then the sensible thing to do would be to stop fighting the war.

Why would they if the battlefield simulations fail, they would have to spend even more effort hiding it. It's better to test nothing until it's deployed on the field than to have to justify knowingly sending troop to their death with known faulty material.

The Bradley did eventually become an adequate IFV I guess. The LCS dissolves in salt water and we can't afford to produce ammo for the Zumwalts main gun. It's so much worse these days.

always has been

the torpedoes we used during WWII were never actually subjected to live fire testing, because the Bureau of Ordnance didn't want to waste rare and expensive torpedoes (supply and production problems were exacerbated by Congressmen wanting to give their own districts total monopolies on nationwide torpedo production) by blowing them up and the Navy didn't want to supply target ships to get blown up

when reports of massive failure rates started coming in from the field, the submariners were blamed for using the torpedoes wrong. when they finally managed to pressure the Navy into ordering real tests, the expert from the production bureau sabotaged the test torpedoes, which was discovered but blamed on the sub crew. ultimately, the many serious problems with US torpedoes weren't all found and corrected until late 1943
