He's not good lmao have you listened to this stuff

He got famous for the suicide song, which is a bad song and his voice sounds bad on it. The message is fine or whatever but it doesn't make it good. If he never went viral we wouldn't be talking about him.

Where should I start with grime?

I like Stormzy's hits. Skepta was good too. That new 'boasty' track gets stuck in my head and I really like Stefflon Don.

But every single grime artist seems to have a very different style. So I'm lost at where to go from here.

Dizzee Rascal - Boy in the Corner is legit one of the best albums ever, not just grime. He recorded the whole thing age 16-18 and it's insane.

Wiley - Treddin on thin Ice

Kano - Home Sweet Home

JME - Integrity>

The Streets - A Grand don't come for Free

Stormzy - Gang Signs and Prayer

these are all sick! sorta the canonical grime albums. check out merky ace's recent tapes (war is normal/personality cult), slowthai's album and novelist's album from last year as well.

Yeah I'm a techno head too so I love his more experimental output that he is so naturally gifted at, but it's clear that pop singer-songwriter music is his true love. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzwtQ_0rMIg

I love James Blake's older stuff, I just didn't see much of what I love about his older stuff in his new album. Though admittedly, I haven't revisited it since it first came out. I should probably give it another shot sometime.

^ lol that Hamurabi sound

Went to see ski and juice wrld and it was ok but they both used backing track vocals. Ski didnt even hold the mic to the his mouth for half his lines and juice wrld would just keep repeating 1 2 3 4 then rap a bar to two, repeat. However Ski pumped up the crowd like crazy getting everyone into GA and after that juice wrld actually performed, on older songs not on deathrace.

So I finally listened to IGOR for the first time today and then like 6 times more. It’s awesome. I don’t understand how people don’t gently caress it with. Tyler is right that it benefits going from front to back. There are definitely highlights, “I DONT LOVE YOU ANYMORE” is a big one, but the whole picture just rules. Tyler has always been singing about love and the anxieties around it but he really nailed it on this one.

Igor is amazing. I’ve listened to it like five times already.

New Blake is very good but the vibe has to be right for it. I wouldn’t pop it on in the car or at a party but it got a lot of spins from me back during winter in that 1030-1130 pm block before bed just grinding Diablo 3.

Do you guys like YNW Melly or just think he's another thugger clone? Or against him for moral reasons?

I really liked his sound on his 2nd mixtape (not the recent one his mom scrapped together while he in jail). To me he sound like t
Thugger but a bit more conventional, with more melodic singing bits, and his lyrics are more understandable but still reflect the trap genre. Worth a listen if your a Thug fan.
