Catching the beasts in 2nd gen is going to be my undoing. Caught Suicune right off the bat after releasing them, but now I have a living dex of everything available in Gold (haven't traded for Silver exclusives yet) and I have yet to even encounter Entei or Raikou. Warg. Like, does Max Repel or the Bike reduce chance of encountering them? I wouldn't think so, but also Moon Balls catch things that evolve via Burn Heal, maybe they do. The only thing in my party is a level 29 Noctowl.

The only problem is they both know Roar, and Fast Balls don't work on them due to a glitch, so clone the Master Balls to save a headache.

Might switch to the Ruins gate method if I don't encounter one by the end of today. Augh.

The only thing in my party is a level 29 Noctowl. Actually finding the beasts in the wild randomly is kind of a crapshoot. I know because I tried to go for them all completely legit. Here's my anecdotal experience with it. At the time I didn't have an ideal catcherer for the beasts, but eventually I trained one up in the form of... I think a Jumpluff. I chose Jumpluff because it's very fast and had Sleep Powder. Gen 2 roamers work different from any other generation in that their running away is an action that they can be stopped from doing if they're incapacitated. Putting them to Sleep will keep them from running. Jumpluff can be faster than any of them except maybe Raikou, so it should be able to get its powder off, though it only has a 75% chance of sticking so it's not foolproof. From there the strat is to get your catcher to level 39, and then spend your repels looking for the buffoons. It doesn't really matter what route you do it on, but I prefer something central like the areas between Goldenrod and Ecruteak. Now the problem here is that their encounterability is calculated individually compared to the rest of the route. This means that you are not guaranteed to find it after like 20 steps or so like most random wild encounters. I know this because after finding one and later tracking it with the Pokedex, I could run around in that same area for multiple spendings of repels without running into it. In addition, there's some arbitrary moment when they will leave the route if you don't encounter it, so you have to still be checking for it. That means if you don't have it yet in the Pokedex you're kind of blind to knowing if you'll get it or not. Thus what I would recommend is just trying a route for a while, maybe the length of two repels, then Fly to completely reset their positions and enter the route again. It's not foolproof but maybe eventually you'll run into one. From there, put the beast to sleep and slowly whittle down its HP - while it's asleep it won't try to run away, even on the turn it wakes up it will instead do a normal attack rather than run, as if it were Mean Looked, so you'll have another chance to get it to sleep. You won't get any better catch rates than with Ultra Balls, and it'll still be miniscule, but that's the best I can offer in terms of advice. Good luck.

I dunno about Masters. I straight up look at people who play gachas with a bit of contempt for that aspect of their lives. It's all just disgusting casino poo poo streamed to your phones and with the promise of jpgs instead of money. It rubs me the wrong way whenever I see people excited for it.
