Karnage is a lot more polished, so I'd play it first, but Dungeon Knight is still good and worth playing once you've beaten Karnage. It also has more of a roguelike/procedural style vs the Blizzard-style themepark ride of Karnage.

Anyone know of a decent laptop backpack that can cool a laptop running while inside it? My in-laws have a very large barn/garage that was amazing with the Quest this past weekend, and I'm imagining 1:1 scale Gorn now and can't stop. I've got a capable laptop and a Rift S so I just need a way to strap it to my body and keep it from overheating.

Are you any good at fabricating? I'm sure it's possible to build a bracket that holds onto a laptop and can attach to a rucksack frame.

Can most gaming laptops even run at full speed period while on battery power? I thought they all heavily throttled when not plugged in, to the point of making VR non viable?

Has anyone found a way to remove the annoying red dot that appears in your field of view when you are casting the screen from the Quest? I get why they need to show some of kind of indicator, but there has to be a less annoying way.

Another thing I'm counting on is the hdmi to dp adapter I ordered working. dgpu only outputs over hdmi on this laptop, so the usb-c to dp adapter didn't work with the Rift S. CV1 works fine on it though, so I'm hopeful that the adapter works with the S.

If you broadcast to a computer using scrcpy (instructions for Go but works for Quest too https://www.reddit.com/r/OculusGo/comments/9kha4g/wireless_casting_from_oculus_go_to_pc/) it won't have the dot. No audio, though.

Wonder if you plug audio into one of the jacks on the Quest if the other one gets disabled or they go in mono. For the Go people used a splitter to run headphones and stream/record at the same time.

Hopefully TPCast is on the ball about getting a wireless adapter for it soonish. A gaming laptop can go id say about 90% full tilt on battery, but may only last about 20-30 minutes tops.

I use a Y splitter and a pair of Bluetooth audio bridges to bring the audio to my PC when I stream from my Quest. It’s kind of a major pain.

If I had the option to have CV1 quality headphones, I would jump on it. That's actually one of the things holding me back from a Rift S. For what it's worth, it's apparently quite easy to mod Koss PortaPros onto the Rift S with a couple 3D-printed clips that hold them in place the same as the CV1. They're the same drivers the CV1 used.

Theres a bunch of headphone holders people have been making for those koss ones. I've seen some better ones than the tested guy's where they're adjustable outwards, as well as a clever DIY setup for attaching the existing rift headphones to a quest: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3659608

Thats kinda cool. Wish my Printer would print anywhere near accurate enough to print those though lol. On that note though, has anyone tried the little earbuds that came with the OG Vive? Does the short cable reach one of the Quest ports and then to both your ears? I need to find mine before I can try and see.

Welp my RiftS laptop idea is dead, I get no video with the HDMI->DP adapter even though it finds the headset just fine during setup. Looking like any laptop will need to have a dgpu that outputs over dp for this to work. e: oh well, streaming from laptop to Quest will be good enough. Anyone planning on swapping out their Vive Pro HMD for the Index? I'm kind of on the fence - I really like the Pro, but the Index seems to have better FOV and better panels and I'm going to be picking up the Index controllers regardless. The only thing giving me pause is that I kind of want to get the wireless adapter for the Pro and there does not seem to be a wireless option for the Index (yet).

The Quest is a real neckbreaker. No amount of fitting tutorials make this feel very comfortable for me, and I always end up with a headache after about 15 mins. I've seen where people have added something like a battery pack as a counterweight on the back strap, but I'm skeptical that adding even more weight to this thing is going to solve my issue.

The quest isn’t really that heavy, it’s the facial interface. The quest is in the same weight as the OG Vive and Vive pro. ~570g, ~550g ~510g respectively. The index weighs over 600g and I don’t expect many people will be complaining about the weight.

I felt this way too and no amount of video ever helped me. Eventually I just figured out a good way of fitting. I basicaly undo the top strap and yank it fully loose. Then get a loose fit with the side straps. Adjust the back part of the strap to sit as low as possible on the back part of my head. The sides of the strap kinda run tucked behind my ear like glasses rims. Then I'll tighten reaaaaaaaly f'n tight. Hand adjust to sweet spot. Hold with one hand to keep sweet spot, and then crank down the top strap till the weight comes off my nose/face and rests more on my brow and along the top strap.

I find the cloth on the face cover/gasket/whatever on the Quest to be annoyingly rough. Apparently VRCover.com was supposed to come out with a replacement but their site is sketchy as hell right now and looks like it was taken over by phishers or scammers or something. e: Their site is fixed now.

Why are we still seeing ski goggle designs?

Most gaming laptops will limit performance to 30fps to save on battery but if you disable it you're just going to devour the battery. It's not really a good idea. A lot of gaming laptops will barely get 4-5 hours, if not less, on battery power without running a game.

The battery counterweight helps a ton, I just did it today and I'm surprised at the difference. I'll post pics later, my setup is pretty sleek. Again though, counterweight helps keep it off my beak a little better.

Also I personally think the general Halo design is a little too one-size-fits-all/nobody, if that makes sense. I know with my PSVR headset it never feels quite pperfectly aligned to me, because there's a lot of little ways it'll slip or adjust around your head and still feel relatively right. With the more ratcheted clamp-style ones, like the Vive's Deluxe Audio Strap, it just locks in snugly the same way every time and feels perfect.

Well, this is embarrassing. I am returning my Rift S tomorrow. Not because of anything wrong with it, mind, it is great. However, I live on the upper floor of an apartment building, and I am a fatty. Basically, when I started running around paying VR, my neighbors noticed. They thought it was something with my AC unit, but I would not like to take chances (my apartment manager has yet to get back to me on time tables). Still, I do like VR and I may go for it again someday, albeit with lower intensity games. I was wondering about playstation VR. Does that have more games that can be played seated?
