You replace their boltgun with 2 items from the weapons list, one of which is a boltgun, then replace that boltgun with a heavy thunder hammer or a frag cannon or whatever so you could give heavy weapons troops and heavy thunder hammer guys a chainsword or stormshield in addition. But now thats been erratad out.

Thanks for all the marine forces info. My kid is young, I want to build a space marine force with room to grow. Probably we'll play skirmishes at home and venture out to the FLGS for fluffier, non-competitive events. He really wants some of the space marine vehicles too. Should I pick up a predator tank and a box of primaris and call it good 'nuff?

So I'll be having to go to a remote area for about a month for work and need a project, was hoping the hoverboat would be out in time but sadly that's not the case. I swore I'd never build any more dragoons, but this may be the perfect excuse to make some since I wouldn't have the motivation back home. Am I overlooking the ironstriders though? They're more points, don't have the negative -1 to hit and seem to fill a role that could be done by other units. Anyone here who really likes them?

Storm bolters and storm shields are a very legal(and very cool!) loadout for deathwatch vets. In terms of "elite" armies that actually play similar to how their lore portrays them, I think custodes are probably the best/closest? It feels great to have like a 14 model army at 1500-2000 points.

Consistently making models I hate look good

Re: https://youtu.be/FpF8GZJifpw I remember when Hexwraith flame and the other color (can’t remember the name) were released- I have used them a few times and I’m thinking those were market tests for contrast paints. If they are of the same formula, it makes sense because they do act very similar and are halfway between a normal medium and wash medium.

For some madding reason I've found Hexwraith to be always incredible in results, but Nighthaunt comes off as less pseudo-translucent and frustrating. The shop guy said you could just not shake the pot before and use the medium at the top to get a better result, but I haven't had another spooky ghost model to really test that on.

Hexwraith over white, drybrushed white and washed yellow can make an eye-searingly bright combo too. I did my Ghostybros that way.

Yeah, I spoke to GW's head paint guy. Hexwraith and Nighthaunt absolutely aren't the same as Contrasts, but they did come from the same development programme, before they moved to the new medium. They put them out because despite being failures they happened to be useful on their own merits.
