I don't know where this thread is at the moment but I've had some more thoughts on CPGB-ML. It's obviously a kind of think tank linked to Russia and China. It shamelessly backs these regimes and Syria and cosies up to Farage and Galloway. So I strongly suspect that it's full timers are funded by these states just as RT is. I think someone earlier in the thread said that leading figures in CPGB-ML have business interests in China. So what I'm thinking is that if it's a sort of conservative think tank linked to ex-Stalinist regimes then how do we account for the Tankie ideology. And what I've come up with is the idea that there's such a thing as "Soviet kitsch" which is a kind of dope people get high off. I think a lot of ironic memes, victory day parade watching, funny hats, hammer and sickle and other such paraphernalia fall into this sort of category. You have a two sided sort of structure where you have the bootlicking and maneuvering as essential paid agents of a foreign power (sorry if I sound like a Cold Warrior ranting about Moscow gold, that's not my intent) whilst at the same time maintaining a cosmetic membership doped up on Soviet kitsch turning up at demos and handing out free copies of Proletarian to give them a semblance of legitimacy. lmao

I want to make it very clear that I don't think that the US is "good" by any definition. However, if we compare it to other great powers throughout history - the UK, France, the USSR/Russia, China etc - the US at the very least does some half-assed attempts at good. I am not american and I am not coming at this from a position of nationalism. I am however confident in claiming that replacing US hegemony with, say, Russian or Chinese hegemony would result in a great step back for human rights and democracy on an international level. The US is deeply, deeply flawed, but the powers that the "anti-imperialists" align themselves with are way, way worse.
