Man, they really refined all the ways to enjoy this game. Played some games yesterday, got from endorsement 3 to 4 by earning 2-3 votes each match consistently. Logged in today only to be greeted by "Your endorsement level has gone from 4 to 3". Good job of conditioning players to not give a poo poo about any aspect of the game anymore I guess. Double XP weekend during anniversary? Naaaaaah. Let's try to sell more lootboxes. Who cares about player retention. Let's group up gold players with high diamond or even masters players in Quick Play. They'll sort it out and have fun!

It's loving quick play. Arcade matchmaking is utter garbage. If you want good matchmaking, play comp. The other complaints are understandable, but bitching about QP matchmaking just makes you look dumb.

You can also now spend your time in Overwatch playing silly modes that don't have much to do with killing other people if getting stomped by someone with 500x better aim than you makes you sad. Anything is possible through the magic of Workshop~

Occasionally when I play in bursts I'll go to 4, but mostly I chill on 3 just by not proactively screaming Gamer Words into voice whenever I do bestir myself to play. 4 isn’t too hard to maintain if you mostly play main tank or support in comp but qp seems a lot harder to not drop down to 3

there really does seem to be fewer shitters now than when I last played years ago, and while there's probably a lot of factors involved in that, positive reinforcement is a much more effective means of conditioning behaviour than negative

Turns out people shower you with shot caller, if you type "Please wait for everyone.", "Bak bak" and "Regroup" during the match, when needed. No voice needed.

Edit: Just remembered one of my loses had an almost-gold/plat duo and the plat was the worst 76 I've ever scene. I feel bad for the gold. That rank threshold is real.

I don't remember the last time I played Overwatch exactly, but it was shortly before Brig came out. I mained Orisa with Ana/Moira/Winston in my pocket. My highest ranking was low Masters and I left at low Diamond. I still keep up with some streamers and OWL and how the meta is progressing, and I am so tickled that Orisa is considered a high-quality pick that I'm very tempted to come back for a bit. When I stopped playing it was nothing but grief for picking cowmom (and she's a cow, not a horse, because she has horns, please stop calling it "horse meta" if indeed you do). I suppose this is a bit of a nebulous question, but how's the community nowadays? Toxicity was a major factor in my wanting to leave.

Characters like Bastion and Orisa exist purely as roadblocks which enable poo poo like bunkering. OW is fun but after three years they still don't seem to get it, and if Team Fortress 3 ever gets made it'll eat Blizzard's lunch.
