Arivia posted:Demilich is one of my favourite straight up death metal bands If you go to Revocation's Spotify page, they have made a playlist to listen to whilst they're touring. Demilich has three spots on that playlist... alongside Crocodile Rock, Blut Aus Nord, and an entire Juicy J mixtape. Based.

Also apparently the Latin chanting in the final act of Terrorvortex translates roughly to "Meaningless Latin singing, God of Hoots"

Gloryhammer aside it has been an absolutely killer 6 months for power metal. Better than all of 2018 and probably 2017 I'd say

The Paladin album was actually kinda disappointing for me. I still really like the two songs they released as singles, but the album as a whole is kinda just this amorphous mess. I listened to it a few times and very few things really stuck out to me. Otherwise though, yeah thus far it's been a great year for power metal or the more melodic side of metal in general. New Astral Doors is a lot better than their previous couple outings, for one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98Tu0XZ0D6A Nordick fucked around with this message at 16:35 on Jun 6, 2019 |

Are there any notable power metal bands where the vocalist is really really good at vibrato, or at least doesn't lean on it for every single sustained note? So much power metal is ruined for me because thee triumphant epic vocals end up reminding me of a deflating balloon.

Did Razorfist get hit yet? I stumbled upon his reviews of artists discographies which were really drat good but he’d sometimes go off on tangents and then I found his other videos were all gamergate and right wing Trump bullshit.

The new Rhapsody of Fire being actually really good made my last couple of months, now Gloryhammer is probably gonna last me a while until the new Sabaton, which I'm a bit weary of but cautiously optimistic about.

I can think of plenty of sustained notes with and without vibrato

Decent Texas deathcore All Hell, punky blacky gothy metal Vulture's new album is up on non-BC, speedy thrash A new Power From Hell album is supposed to be out but it might have been delayed until next Friday according to the release date on one site. Back on kinda sorta power metal talk, turns out there's a new Ancient Empire album on the radar already. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bFTJjJK4f18 Not the best song of theirs I've heard, but still really solid mid-tempo trad/ USPM.

New Twilight Force single, I'll jam it after I finish my second listen of Gloryhammer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mG5DyUj0pfU Edit: It appears to be bad, and the keyboard player created a Reddit alt to say the mixing actually rules and the vocals are way better than Christian's (vocalist they fired in one of the worst ways I've ever seen) and Christian directly called him out Nazzadan fucked around with this message at 17:21 on Jun 7, 2019 |
