I wonder what will happen to KD over the next few months. If their unwarranted surge is anything like that of MP and C previous they simply won't recover from this and will just keep falling.Cardiac posted:So what is the point of V then? That is the question, but I'd be surprised if this outcome won't result in a lot of reconsideration about the overall strategy. In Denmark, the conventional/traditionalist racists in DPP went back by a lot, I’m assuming that the main cause is brexit, but Pia blamed the ‘climate nut-jobs’ for making it impossible to incite hatred towards immigrants as much as she used to, also impossible to be heard while trying make immigrants the cause of everything bad and make every single policy aspect of society immigration focused. I feel like the hypocrisy of politicians has always been bad, and has become completely standard these days, but this one is close to taking the cake. The DPPs outright lies and bad faith on immigration has been the single dominating theme in all elections for like 20-30 years in Denmark. I’m a little afraid that DPPS catastrophic election will lead to a backlash in the actual election in a short while. Enhedslisten got the single mandate for left wing criticism but the people’s movement against EU lost theirs, something I feel indifferent about. Overall eu criticism when back, but only because the ethno-nationalist racists lost, so I don’t think that’s bad.

It seems like for all of these issues like abortion or the social pillar etc. it's about setting up some bare minimums for countries to follow. Just because EU agrees on a minimum number of weeks paid vacation doesn't mean they'll go and restrict countries that have more generous laws. Seemed to me during the debates that "EU shouldn't regulate this" generally meant "We don't like this"

Seemed to me during the debates that "EU shouldn't regulate this" generally meant "We don't like this" when the eu gets its mitts on legislation it very often harmonises it across the continent by default, because local legislation is often going to conflict with some weird downstream tehnicality this is happening in norway, with norwegian supreme court being overruled in matters of employment law (the EU likes maximum mobility of manpower, so norwegian employers hiring in lower-cost countries do not need to pay for their workers' travel and board until they get established, thanks EU) on a rule nobody really thought would be applied this way the EU, like any bureaucratic system, will expand to fill the room granted to it. allowing it into a hot issue like abortion seems like an excellent way of letting a bunch of polish fundamentalists get at your abortion legislation

Caveat, the election isn’t completely done in DK I don’t think. Much to my surprise the actual, no joke, nazi policy party didn’t get in, but were incredibly close (got like 1.9% needed 2). I don’t know, I did actually think there were more than 2% goose stepping, sieg heiling, nazis in Denmark, but I guess they split their votes across the two ultra right parties. The party combining the worst qualities the alt right with ultra unfettered capitalism, and who I naively thought would be the racist bottom, did get in though. The good news is that danish people’s party got massacred and the literal ayn rand comedy hour party got cut in half, with their main guy possibility losing his seat. Looks like red government, but let my the social democrats, who took a long hard look at themselves and said: ‘we just have to come more racist’. Does seem like it was a winning strategy since they stayed the same size more or less, who knows, maybe they’d gone back if they hadn’t turned into danish people’s party, but also pretends they think the climate is important.

I took a great deal of joy in watching DF get their poo poo kicked in at the polls for the second time in less than two weeks. The socialdemocrats are claiming they'll attempt a government purely out of their own party and be open for cooperating with both the red of the red bloc as well as the Right. Probably so they can get the right to help them poo poo on immigrants and then hope the left will back them up still when they get to government spending. Fingers crossed it will backfire horribly on them as a cautionary tale not to be poo poo like that in the future. LLR's callingfor the socialdemocrats to form a centrist government with him remaining prime minister is also hilariously deluded.

A Buttery Pastry posted:A whole lot of whining about Muslims voting for the Radical Left too. Extremely problematic that people let religion influence their vote. If they were properly integrated they'd vote for the Danish People Party. It's a problem when they reject democracy and it's a problem when they vote. But if the left wanted the immigrant vote they should probably take care to field more (any) non-white candidates and not backstab those among them who speak out against racism. I guess that's a tall order. The Social Liberals managed to obfuscate the fact that they voted for more deportations. After that it was only a matter of pretending at representation.

A Buttery Pastry posted:It's kinda crazy, even if you look at it solely from an electoral perspective. Like, how many people are gonna NOT vote for the left if they suddenly field non-white candidates vs. how many voters might they attract by taking a principled anti-racism stance? Looking at polls from around the election, voter conversion numbers between 2015 and 2019 see them lose more far more votes to the Social Liberals and the Alternative than they do the DPP. Even ignoring the morality of it, what kinda of vote are you even trying to get? The literal national socialist vote? The Stalinist one? Apparently they did have like four candidates, but none of them had a chance of getting in. I really don't know what they're trying for. Neither do they, I'm afraid. Look at the last-minute appeal to small business owners and self-employed.

Katt posted:Aren't you entitled to 5 minutes of "pause" per hour of work? Not specifically, but kind of. The part in the law that's specific is a longe break that must be available within five hours of the start of your work day. Basically a lunch break or similar, which means that you can't force someone to work non-stop for eight hours. The part about short breaks are a bit more vague. However, that's before taking into account what's written in your kollektivavtal, which in Sweden is where a lot of your actual work enviroment rules are covered. You can't decide what people do on their breaks. This will never be implemented, it's just empty sabre-rattling to satisfy racist voters. It's from the SD heartland, and clear signal politics. It's not even meant to be implemented, just a way to shout "vote for SD if you hate muslims". Rasten räknas inte in i arbetstiden. Utöver rasterna har du rätt till kortare avbrott från arbetet det vill säga pauser. Då har du inte automatiskt rätt att lämna arbetsplatsen. Pauser räknas in i arbetstiden. Längden på och omfattningen av pauserna är inte reglerat i lagen mer än skyldigheten för arbetsgivaren att organisera arbetet, så att arbetstagaren kan ta de pauser som behövs utöver rasterna." lilljonas fucked around with this message at 11:43 on Jun 12, 2019 |
