It really, really did. The entire card was good but the last two matches are maybe the two best I've seen live. ELP/Starr was a perfect match to blow off 2 years worth of feud with callbacks to all the stuff that's happened in their previous matches. Referee Roberts getting the biggest pop of the night for finally standing up to Starr was incredible. Looking forward to seeing ELP with the cruiserweight title in NJPW

Really glad that Aussie Open have the tag belts as well. It's really well deserved (even if it means that ZSJ is no longer Zacky Two-Belts)

There’s been smaller British promotions doing this sort of thing for years ...

Yeah, but it's usually one off matches or a gimmick for a specific belt like the Grand Championship. I know it's 'traditional' but the round system in wrestling is stupid and breaks the flow of a match. Plus why do it if you're not going to even TRY in tag matches?

I think you could work entertaining rounds based matches on a consistent basis. The flow would be "different" but not necessarily worse. You can get a lot of poo poo in in 5 minutes.

As a gimmick for a particular wrestler or title, sure, but as base rules for an entire promotion I don't know of anyone doing it since the original World of Sport closed. It could also end up being pretty awkward in-ring because anyone they bring in is probably going to have little or no experience of working that style of match and not everyone is going to be able to adapt.

Oh, I've been to at least one indie show that ran it as the gimmick for one of their belts. Half the audience was kids and parents who had no idea what the rules were, and even indie fans these days are going to be mainly familiar with US and Japan style rules.

I've seen exactly one match contested under those rules at an indie show and it was just a novelty one for a Johnny Kidd retirement tour appearance where he wrestled Pete Dunne.

Crowd had no loving clue what was going on and the place was dead.

Somehow they had Ospreay for that disaster of a tour they ran earlier in the year.

I'm hoping that they put out £5 standing tickets, like they did for their first show. Also, stop changing poo poo. This was supposed to be part of a two tournaments in one day thing, and the other one disappeared. Then they changed the name. This company is weird (and not in the good DDT way).

Can't have the guy with a WWE belt lose, so have to book him strong. (To be fair he was booked really strong everywhere even before debuting with WWE)

Between this and Charlie it's not been a good few weeks for LGBTQ wrestlers. Jack was such a natural babyface and I was so excited for the harder edge he went with at the start of the year. This sucks.

Yeah but why even make him your champion if he can never lose at this point, he was so much more interesting when trading wins with Riddle, because the outcome didn't feel foretold

My local relatively rinky-dink indie is 75% guys who are now on NXT UK and now that we seem to be past that initial "they can't work anywhere that isn't NXT or Progress" period they've pretty much stopped bringing in imports/bigger non-WWE signed names, because it seems like the NXT guys are only allowed to job to each other and none of their other talent is really worth booking in a match with anyone of note.

Making the cards pretty boring at the moment, is this happening elsewhere in britwres?
