Yikes. I don’t have any friends that I transfer up, but this is some pretty bad news. And I don’t understand why the hell it’s the case. They already have models and movesets and stats for all the old Pokémon. I guess we should’ve seen it coming though between SuMo not having a National dex and Let’s Go being limited.

Being less of a dick, I'd wait for more info on why/how that's gonna work because it's Nintendo, they are always poo poo at explaining stuff. So in the Treehouse they showed off that because of the open world-ness of the new game you can go to other areas with wild pokemon much higher level than you. Like their team was 12-14 and they encountered a level 26 Machoke. I wonder if catch rate scales with your highest level Pokemon to prevent you from just catching a super high level Pokemon and steamrolling the game. Will they just not obey you?

One of my favorite parts of Yellow was when they give you a lvl 30 Dugtrio when you're likely barely even at 20. You can steamroll Lt. Surge's gym super easy with it.

Do people genuinely transfer their pokemon over from other games and use them in the story? Like wouldn't that give you overlevelled pokemon Also kind of the point of pokemon games is catching new pokemon in a new world I just don't get the fume tbqh

For those worried about their old-mons being gone is Home bugs out, do what I do for bank atm: Backup save, transfer mons, label safe with obvious name like ORAS FULL DEX so I can always get my mons back in the worst case. Only old switches being able to be cracked does mess that up for gen 8 tho.

The second time I like having the option to make a team of my own liking with hand bred poekmon. I also like being able to keep all my pokemon in order and safe in storage rather than poke bank. I know in my heart of hearts they'll let you transfer the old pokemon eventually but the way they're going about this is poo poo. Also if say for example if you caught a shiny or carefully bred a pokemon you're not going to want to go through the work of doing it all over agin when you already have one.

They could pull a reverse gen V and give us secondary types for the Water and Grass mons. Water/Ghost and Grass/Normal
