I got tickets and hotel res for Rugby World Cup semifinals in Oita :peanut: Expensive rear end trip wtf :sadpeanut: Many hotels don't have their October calenders unlocked yet, but they're already full from phone reservations. What the heck will people from not-Japan do to get a room?!

In my experience, two people (or more) who want to bang will find some way to do it anyway, regardless of the consequences. Get the huge room.

In my airbnb in Kyoto, in order to pay the ‎¥1800 tourist tax, we were directed to the vending machine, which only had a ¥200 button, which we were instructed to press 9 times, each printing out a receipt for us to keep.

Anyone have any thoughts on going to TeamLab Planets vs. Borderless? Both seem amazing but I feel like we'll only have time for one or the other.

Also, is going to the Oedo Onsen Monogatari worth it while we're in Odaiba? I know it's probably not the most authentic onset experience, but would it be a complete waste of time to go?

Just bumping my question from a couple pages back.

Borderless is bigger and has more stuff and you can wander more. Also the exhibits mostly change over time so you can very much kill a lot of time repeating stuff there.

Planets has water you walk through and stuff though which is also cool, and when I went there there were much smaller crowds, though they limit admission enough that neither should be too crazy.

Oedo Onsen is a perfectly chill way to spend some time. I’d skip it if you’re otherwise going to a real Onsen but it’s a nice thing to do if you want to bathe and also drink a few beers or whathave. Wouldn’t prioritize it too highly but it can be nice after a long day to get a good bath in and if you’re in the area anyway you’ve already taken care of the main drawback, which is access.

About to embark on the first leg of our trip (PDX to YVR).

I bought tickets to the Urawa Reds match on Saturday, what in Saitama is worth checking out besides the match?

Japan likes to charge per person, not per room. And at a similar price the AirBNB is going to be more spacious and have more amenities.

Oh I know it's per person but the per person cost is always cheaper for a shared room in hotels.

Go check out the Cainz home center to the north of the stadium. There's nothing else out there.

Needed to check on a website to see if we can have them send us money or if they violate our terms (they do)

It's a doujishi marketplace site.

With a lot of porn, which is why we're blocking them.

But what I'm saying here is I just got paid to browse anime titties.

Unfortunately it’s not really nearby to the soccer stadium, but possible. Omiya Station to Urawa-Misono Station, takes at least 50 minutes.

Also yeah for the love of god don’t bring weed to Japan, they will deport you.

THE JOLLY CANDY-LIKE BUTTON
I have a Japan question that's actually a Texas question

We're going to Houston for the weekend next month and our hotel is right across the street from a Gyu-Kaku. It's got good reviews on google but I also know it's got a ton of locations in Japan, so I'm asking here if it's worth a stop. Definitely seems good.

I don't know about the Gyu-Kaku in Texas, but I've been to at least 4 Gyu-Kaku locations in California. It's pricey, but definitely tasty. I recommend doing it especially if you haven't had a restaurant experience like that before.
