They've said not every Pokémon will be included in Shield and Sword saying that with now over 800 Pokémon and given how more detailed they’ll be in HD and how hard balancing 800 different Pokémon and all potential combos would be they’re using a smaller pool for this generation than the full 800+. It sucks but it was going to happen inevitably at some point that they couldn’t keep supporting nearly a thousand different Pokémon all at the same time

of the 800+ pokemon there are a lot of trash that can be easily culled from the in-game roster. there's a loving garbage bag pokemon and an ice cream pokemon. pretty sure poo poo like that will be cut before Nidoran and Geodude

I just made myself sad because realizing that 800+ Pokemon means that they could very easily fill up an open-world sort of exploration Pokemon game where you could freely run to each biome and see tons and tons of unique Pokemon and I know they won't do that

So you walk to the forest and there's a man standing in front of a literal roadblock who says "haha you can't go this way yet because I said so! go to the lake first" like you're on some sort of supervised summer camp hike
