I don't mean when she goes into the background, I mean she starts a water jet at the extreme right edge of the boat and sweeps it all the way up to the top left corner of the room. I don't think I could even clear it with the double jump.

Anyway I beat her after grinding for a little bit. It's just a damage race, and getting lucky with her putting her head within reach for big damage.

In other news, for those who don't know, if you rank 9 a passive shard, you get that shard's effects permanently. And they stack with an equipped version too.

This includes stuff like regeneration, the breakable wall seeing shard that also auto picks up items, and the shard that makes it so that you have a chance to use zero MP on a cast of something. It's really great.

I wish there was an easy way to get back to where you were. I know there's the waystone but there's nothing to get back inside the castle (currently) for me.
The dragon tower jumping puzzle was pretty frustrating but I got it!
The boss that gives you the hand just stood there while I hit it. Is that normal?
Finally: what does the shortcut do? I have like 3 of them and am not sure how to put anything into the shortcut?

shortcut is basically "swap to this equipment loadout"

you need to start saving some loadouts there to get started. Easiest is to take your current setup by "paste current". You can also individually edit any piece. To swap to it just hold LT and pick loadout you want.

It's handy for those situational shards you need for traversal or healing etc

I was using a kick against him and did the boss about 10 times and learned all of his movesets etc and got to his second phase. Then I took another approach, ground the true arrow by being at the save room before the boss, equipping true arrow, killing the archer with it, going back in and out, killing, etc. When I ran out of mana I would sit down and recharge, then get back to grinding. I also ranked it up at the base. I went back and loving ganked the boss with it and a couple of ethers. It was cheese but gently caress it, my normal weapons were either too slow (greatsword/axe) or not powerful enough (kick/sword).

There is a teleporter point directly above the village hub area. I.e. from the room with the woman who gives you quests to murder monsters exit to the upper right to the screen with two bone lobbing monsters. From their go exit upper left. Boom teleporter.

Rosalind posted:

So a couple things that will make this easier. Do the questline back in the village for the woman to the left of the farmer and youll get finished foods her first 3 quests should be finishable with stuff you already have.. Pizza for instance will give you a good permanent stat up and basically be a free full heal.

Second his patterns are pretty rigid so if you learn them even when he goes into his second phase nothing changes. If you see him jumping with a shadow trail behind him slide under him is the big tip, the blast doesnt hit behind him

Third, the shard the blood grinder enemies (armor looking guys with whirring sawblade swords) drops is OP as all hell and makes absolute mincemeat of most enemies and bosses especially as you upgrade it.

Fourth, you can always just level grind.

Cowcaster

seriously, i've only killed 3 bosses so far but my strategy for each of them has been "point heretic grinder at them -> hold button -> reposition as necessary if you get bumped"

i think it just takes a few longswords to get to level 3 and then a few toads eyes (relatively common drop from frogs over by the waterway) to get it to level 7 too

That guy completely chumped me three times and then I beat him barely getting hit. Use hit and run tactics, choose your moments.

After that my strategy for bosses has been "will it grind" to which the answer has been "yes". Aside from the one in the tower where I somehow wound up under the head where it couldn't hit me, fell through the floor a bit later, and running back it died as I got there so

I appreciate that the 8-bit coin items aren't really any stronger than anything else, just cute little whatevers. I also appreciate that the crafting is mostly irrelevant and you don't have to engage with it unless you really want to, since there's plenty to explore and grab that way, something most games get wrong (even some Castlevanias!).

Oh, I got the guns lol so going off that and the stats I assumed

Curse sucks a whooooole lot in this game btw - that cywraeth thing is brutal -it just does half your health then halves your max, so if you're hurt and it touches you (and it has a homing offscreen swoop), you lose. If you're in an area with them keep topped up even if it's a waste of potions.

game starts out rough and then gets easier, particularly as you pick up magic. the floodgates for the brakes coming off for me was just getting two true shot shards off the archer dudes, which upgrades with ammo which you aren't really using

unbelievably having a 30 mp cheap attack that can just do 150~ damage does start to make everything fairly easy

that said I did faceplant on the second boss a few times

i posted about it earlier: after the twin dragons boss there's a chest at the bottom of their tower with the silver bromide. you need that to get your picture taken at the shop. you need a passcard to get past the lock to the train and the picture is used for that. the librarian can make you one as long as you have the picture.
