My sister was once an au pair for a French family with extreme old money wealth. They lived on a boat in the Seine and had an actual castle in the countryside as a summer home. The castle had no street address, just a name. The parents in the family were just your standard rich yuppie assholes, but the grandfather -- who had grown up living in the castle as some sort of minor nobility -- would not speak to or make eye contact with any of the help. when he wanted my sister to do something, he would find one of the children and tell them to tell my sister what he wanted, even if she was right in the room with him and the only child he could find was his three year old autistic grandson. On the way back she decided she needed a bigger yacht because she couldn't get far enough away from the crew on that one. So the answer is yes.
