Nobody actually wants her to be President. There are just several candidates so aggressively terrible (Biden, Kamala Harris, Tulsi Gabbard) pretty much any random person on the street would be better. If you assume having a few wacky fringe candidates is part of the deal now, it’s nice to have a relatively harmless one who is good for a few laughs, spotlights a couple important issues then fades away. Marianne definitely fits the bill so far!

Trump seemed like a joke to us and to the MSM, but Republicans took him very seriously from the start. He was at the top of the polls within, like, 20 minutes of calling Mexicans rapists. Williamson is at 0-1%. She’s not a threat and we can absolutely make her our fun meme candidate.

Williamson came off pretty crazy, but her heart appears to be in the right place, and that's more than can be said for most of the others. Plus, she's polling with the Tim Ryans and Kirsten Gillibrand's of the world, so it's not like she has an actual chance of going anywhere, so there's no real need to be really critical of her. Maybe she'll get an ambassadorship or something, at most.

Marianne Williamson represents the tendency in liberals and many lefties to channel their desire for revolution into spiritualism and other immaterial avenues. It's a pretty unfortunate trait, but it's widespread. We're giving her a lot of credit because she still represents a revolutionary impulse; she understands much better than the majority of the field that our entire social structure is immoral, corrupt, and heading toward collapse. That doesn't mean that she can or would actually implement the level of reform or revolution necessary to solve the problem.

I feel like Williamson confuses people the same way Gabbard does. Legitimately better than 95% of Democratic politicians, yet still utterly horrible. But a ton of people hear someone say the first, and immediately jump to the conclusion that this is the same as saying she's good, because the alternative would be to face the fact that the party is mostly a pack of greedy evil opportunists lusting for foreign blood.
