Dagen H posted:A little of both, I would say. Corvair production and sales both fell precipitously in the wake of Unsafe At Any Speed, despite the '65 redesign (which replaced the rear swing axles with a true IRS). The air-cooled R/R layout was familiar to Porsche and VW enthusiasts, but was alien to the mainstream Chevrolet buyer. I'd love a chance to drive one of the second generation ones, they seem super cool. 180hp at 2750 curb weight isn't great these days (especially since you probably are looking at more like 150 on modern testing standards), but apparently the handling is supposed to be a lot of fun with the second-generation suspension. Gorgeous car too. Besides, driving a slow car fast is more fun than driving a fast car slow. I wonder how bad the turbo lagged on a 1960s car.

Those things are aluminum, light as hell and aerodynamic as hell. There are dudes that get them up to 100mpg running suicidal alignment and newer eco tires. I still regret missing one at auction for $1750. e; holy poo poo $500, why don't you own it yet? e: 5 speed stick without A/C is 1874lbs. there are K-series swap kits.

Turbo k20, exhaust straight out a hole in the hood. Front splitter to keep the front end planted, drag chute on the back. Without the mess of batteries in the back you could probably get it to 3-4lbs per horsepower, proper supercar levels. Someone needs to do this

Early K compatible 6MT's had problems, so only specific transmissions off of specific years of specific cars would be useful for performance applications. On top of that, K engines were so (relatively) powerful and efficient with i-VTEC that basically everything higher priced than a Fit came K-series engine for a few years Imagine paying +$15k to get a K-swapped Insight with the guts of a Honda Element KOTEX GOD OF BLOOD posted:OK, now ketchup to my campaign, coupe the color of mayonnaise But do you spit rounds like a gun range, or beat it up like Rampage? 275/60R15, OEM is 255/65R15 but the 275s are popular with muscle cars so those are a lot more readily available and much cheaper
