The tigers were not at all happy, and one of them just charged straight at the glass we were standing behind and slammed into it. Some little cluster of cells deep in my primate brain sort of switched on and said "yes, this is how you're going to die and you always knew it because you are food to this thing". It felt profoundly weird.

One time I was in that little zoo on the lakeshore in Chicago and there was a guy in a leather jacket teasing one of the tigers - he was making some kind of annoying noise and the tiger was frustratedly pacing back and forwards and growling a little. All of a sudden, it did a quick spin and loving sprayed him from head to foot in piss. It was so enormously satisfying just to watch, I can only imagine how much better the tiger felt.
