The production committee doesn't care about the quality of the animation. They care about commercial success (i.e. merch and BDs and etc). OPM S1 was a passion/contacts project - so if the S2 staff asked for more budget it would just be a question of "Why can't you deliver on that budget, Season 1 did? You clearly lack work ethic" If OPM S2 is unmemorable in the long run but temporally popular enough for the prod committee members to make their profits then that's "mission accomplished" from their perspective. Any drive for better animation/art is only going to come from the passion of the artists involved.

Nearly all of the budget goes towards hiring voice actors too. Animators generally don't get money "thrown at it".

y'all there are a lot of problems money doesn't fix, like: - the relatively small pool of skilled animators - said animators being on a constant ticking clock because anime has a hit a critical mass where too many shows are in production for how many people actually work in the industry - poorly managed work pipelines leading to delays and episodes getting finished only a few hours before airing (or not at all) You could back-up a truck load of gold bricks to JC Staff's office and it wouldn't change the reality that they don't have the people and they don't have the time the industry is deeply, systemically hosed right now in a way that only a full-on collapse is going to fix

Yeah I recall the madhouse staff refuted that they had a higher than normal budget, the director was just talented had a lot of connections to some great animators. The main problem was that the guy was busy and they didn't want to wait too long before making another season.

He's a giant black sperm, his disaster level is Dragon, and he's one of the few characters sometimes drawn in the ONE style, which is reserved for the most powerful characters in the series. What else do you need
