eva is good, not really sure why you'd have to be depressed to appreciate it. it looks great, has some interesting one-off eps in the middle, and a fairly strong cast. i feel like the main thing that i hear turns some people off is just some of the writing/framing of female characters in the show and whether it all has an ultimate purpose, but it feels like the sort of conclusion you have to draw from watching it yourself.

The Kakegurui XX finale went from typically ridiculous to almost sweet, which was a fun change of pace. I didn't realise that it's caught up to the Manga now though. Wonder if/when we'll get a Season 3...

Anyone else watched Rilakkuma and Kaoru? It's such an odd duck of a show for someone to have pitched a stop-motion series in 2019. Amazon has all the ronin warriors stuff uploaded. Unfortunately it's only the English dub (for the series at least, haven't checked the oav) so there's really no point in watching.

The Japanese voices for the series were never licensed from my understanding and the English version has a bunch of cuts so they couldn't do proper dual audio with the same video anyways. Edit: apparently I'm mistaken there but the rights are in a bit of a mess.

There's two versions of Escaflowne in dub form; One is the straight Ocean localization dub, the other is a hack editing job by Fox Kids that runs 23 episodes (only 9 of which aired) and downplays Hitomi in favour of focusing on Vaan as a boy's action show for younger kids. It also replaces Yoko Kanno's soundtrack with techno. Both versions have the same english VA's.
