Only person I know in real life that has claimed to made a ton of money from bitcoin has conveniently had his new car "in the shop" for the last few years. I know another guy who says his cousin made it rich on bitcoin but he's still working as a warehouse employee breaking his back with a car that's literally falling apart so I don't quite think that's true. I'd love to invest in a monetary scheme where 50% of money doesn't move in a year. Seems like a great idea! Not like that's one of the biggest problems with our current monetary system that Bitcoin claims to be better than.

Yeah the only person I know who got money out of crypto just told me he turned more profit by buying a used car with an active recall, taking it to the dealership for a free replacement part, then flipping the car. He mostly pulled beer money and got out like a year and a half ago.

I made a fair amount. Biggest problem was 40% capital gains tax for coins held less than one year. I didn't get into it until 2017, on the advice of someone whose opinion I trust. I paid back my original investment (wager), paid off credit cards, car, and did some home improvements (new HVAC and windows). It can all go to zero at this point and I'm good. If it doesn't, I'm also good.

I feel bad about not investing in Bitcoin the same way I feel bad about not investing in Herbalife, in that I have no way of telling what ridiculous scams are going to be embraced by the speculative market and which ones are not. Also, nobody was telling people to invest in Bitcoin when it was $.25. They were telling everyone to just mine Bitcoins and hold on to them because it was totally going to become the currency of the future. Even if you get to be smug about the price of Bitcoin now, it's only with the irony that the price is reflective of the same old business suits guessing that it might be worth trading in exchange for traditional fiat US cash and is literally the opposite of a disruptive technology.

Nobody who had bitcoins at 0.25 cents has them anymore. They were either sold, stolen, or lost a long time ago.

I would have either sold at $0.50 a smug genius, lost the password or the actual drive, or had them stolen long before they were worth any amount of life-changing money. And now I can't rationalize keeping anything on any of the exchanges when I could log in to "penis" any given day and most of the trading is just bots run by the exchanges. It was fun while it lasted but I'm sitting this one out.

My fear/hope is that it’s not going to this year. We shall see.

Still debating on whether I want the 3600 or the 3700x. Probably not worth paying the extra price for the X, but I kind of want to max out my small form factor setup. But, as long as there's only a single ITX mainboard available, I'm waiting anyways.
