also yeah the actual direct destruction from storm winds etc will not be as bad. but its the surge and flooding thats actually the worst problem

seeing how hosed up Houston was after Harvey was nuts, my fiancee and I were at a wedding in Connecticut and we got stuck up in the Northeast (a hurrication as people kept saying GET IT LOL), a three day trip turned into 9 and the airports still weren't giving us a reasonable time to fly into either Hobby or Bush. We eventually just took a cheap flight to Austin and rented a car and drove to the city to get to our cats who were loving troopers during the whole thing

So the prediction even after intensifying in the gulf is still cat 1 or 2?

The flooding will be atrocious given that the water levels are already high and the storm seems to be taking a similar path to Harvey, which skirted the coast but stayed in the water, not losing intensity from landfall while funneling tremendous amounts of rainwater to the area north of it

Intensity forecasting is a crapshoot, doubly so before a center of circulation has even developed.

the power went off in the hospital while i was in the elevator, so i got stuck in it for like 15 minutes today. really instills a lot of faith regarding the hospital's ability to remain functioning during an actual worst case scenario.

Choice and consideration weren't involved. My gf is a hospital pharmacist and her institution was bought out by Ochsner after the last owners Jindal paid to take it got tired of it.
