John Schuck played the Klingon ambassador in Star Trek IV and VI.

Huh.

That is a pretty funny distinction. Now I was just googling Easy Rider (1969) and it is surprising to learn it didn't have any F-bombs. I forgot if it had. It does feature flipping the bird, but it turns out somebody flipped the bird in a 1928 film called Speedy.

For starters, I’d actually air it on a real channel instead of using it to prop up a lovely streaming service that won’t exist in 5 years. That way it would actually stand a chance at gaining an audience that wasn’t just existing diehards.

I guess more seriously, focus on the new live, new civilizations thing and focus on the ensemble. Don't do DARK TREK or WHaT IF THe FEdERaTION waS BaD?! I feel like every Star Trek lately misses the exploration of science, philosophy, and the bigger questions of society. They all want to be action shows to talk about how horrible everything is or become action with no substance.

Send them to the Andromeda galaxy and redo Voyager, only good this time, sure let's do ~100 years after Voyager. Exploring a new galaxy and seeing new crazy space poo poo and not the well-trodden Alpha Quadrant. Trying to open relations with the Kelvans but Andromeda's a big galaxy and they haven't heard from them in 300 years and have no idea where to start.

It’s not 100% confirmed but it seems likely that S3 of Disco is going to take place in a distant future where the Federation has become the bad guys or something

I think most complaints about that scene are more related to the fact that they are throwing a frat party in the middle of a WAR. You even have Tyler making a speech honoring the dead just to remind you of that and then it goes right back to Drunk Tilly telling Micheal "I think he liiiiiiiikes you".

Me, on the other hand I hate it because I WANT a world where most socializing is done via music recitals and book clubs instead of sports and drinking. :(

Read collections of the best sci-fi short stories.

Call the authors of the best/most interesting stories and ask, "hey, want to write an episode?"

Film each episode separately, without references to each other or other Trek settings.

This would own. I relatively recently read a Trek novel from the mid-70s written by Joe Haldeman (of the sci-fi classic "The Forever War") and, while it wasn't stellar, it was also Different and Interesting and Not Bad.

Would love to see John Scalzi's or Kim Stanley Robinson's take on Trek, or to have seen Ursula le Guin's/Iain M. Banks' take on it.

That's just because of that one short trek taking place in the future where the protagonist is from a planet at war with the V'drush, or something like that, which is almost certainly the Federation.

The thing is, while we know the the V'drush are the protagonist's enemy, we don't know what the war is about, or who is right or wrong, if either side is

I make TNG 2. Set 50 years after TNG, new crew, Enterprise G, optimistic look at the future, mostly episodic but with some small over-arching storyline. Everyone loves it, wow, so hard.

I wanna see something set around 2600-700 ad, as that's around 300 years after TNG, so we could see what became of the civilisations that were met during TNG but weren't ready yet, like the aliens in "First Contact" and the Microbrain (aka the first non-organic lifeform that the federation discovered, they did tell humanitiy to come back in 300 years after all). Hell, bring back the Nanites that wesley accidentally supercharged, see what they became after 300 years on a planet of their own. By that point Federation relations with races like the Romulans could be unrecognisable.
