This was a page back, but yeah, I've noticed a huge upswing in "equate anything done by LGBT people as a weird sex thing" arguments from conservatives, particularly Evangelicals, post-Obergefell. I mean, that's always been an aspect of their brand of homophobia, but it's practically all they've been doing for the past year, especially regarding Drag Queen Story Hour. They've convinced a huge portion of America that drag shows are some sort of Weird Sex Thing, and so a drag queen reading a story book to children about being yourself morphs into some freakish pervert getting off in front of a group of innocents. Like, just last week, a months-old picture of a drag queen getting hugged by a kid, put up on a library's website, got described by American Family Radio as "a shocking picture of a sexual deviant, lying on the ground, in genital-to-genital contact with a child". They have their narrative, and no amount of describing what performance art is is going to change their minds. It's frustrating, because it's blatantly just a justification for trotting out the "The gays wanna gently caress our kids! We need to think of the children!" talking point, which I naively assumed was more-or-less dead in recent years. But, nope, we're going straight back to the Anita Bryant days I guess.
