On the other matter, given that there's apparently very significant choices you get within routes it's possible that one of those affects the death leak (if that one was even true) instead of just simple house choice.

She does, there are fist-focused classes that are available to women. Brigand has fist as one of its requirements for instance. There's just two fist-specialist classes girls don't have access to, but there's still high-end classes they can access that have fist as one of their weapon types. You can make a girl punch if you want.

I'm taking a look at the stats IGN posted and I was not expecting Marianne to be the Deer with the highest Sword proficiency. I kind of like it though, I can work with that. There's some pretty non-standard decisions with the weapon proficiencies and i'm a fan.

It's Mount Emblem because every Fire Emblem is Mount Emblem and canto exists in this one. I find it very unlikely that cavalier and pegasus knight will have low enough stats to make up for high movement and canto.

I would say it entirely depends on how much time you have. What's the difference between minmaxing 2-3 units, can even get everyone to the master class, how much of that factors in the time it takes to poach a different houses students, do you value supports over skills, etc.

Fists are the most noble of weapons and have unique properties to them that I find pretty intriguing. Also, the part in the opening when Seiros throws away her sword and punches Nemesis in the face is extremely cool. Thus proving the superiority of fists.
