In a game where the construction company composed of just dudes with similar sounding names literally fucks houses into existence, are you shocked that everyone else wants to bang?

I’m on Day 3 of a Master Mode no teleport run and I feel this is absolutely the way to play the game. Grab a horse ASAP and then just explore and ride anywhere and everywhere. The world (which is huge) feels massive! You get to really soak in the sights and explore every jungle, ravine and little area as you go gather poo poo. I made it to the lab to unlock the camera and upgrade some rune but now I’m just going around opening the map and collecting thing. Oh I need to go back to the lab? That’s a good trek from where I am and I’m really looking forward to it. It’s so drat chill I’m falling in love with this game again.

I don't think you even need to do no teleport for that (and it's a bit tedious when you need to go shopping/upgrading), you can merely do something like try to ride on your horse whenever possible. Which, coincidentally, is how I always play anyway. It'll restrict you to most roads, plains etc which is where the cool poo poo tends to be. Also it's fun seeing just what kinds of places you can actually manoeuvre a horse to.

Why ride a horse when you can bust moves on your medieval dirtbike

Aaa aw man I made it to the race where you can do the moon jump glitch and while it was super easy to do it unfortunately break gliding and the glitch goes away if you ride a horse or motorcycle again so there goes my plan to ride around and break poo poo with the glitch. Back to just chilling and exploring with my horse. Think I’ll make my way north and catch one of the good horses before continuing to aimlessly wander and explore the world.

I tried doing a no teleport play the second time through and gave up about 15 hours in. Link had been in the Tabantha mountains/snowfields for weeks hunting for shrines with half a dozen arrows and a few scraps of arctic fox meat to sustain him. It was a suicide mission.

I forgot how to get the spheres in the middle section of the thunder trial and all my equipment is metal so I can’t take it out for too long and it’s not so I have skeletons and keesee hunting me.

GATOS Y VATOS posted:You need the Gerudo Thunder Helm I ended up finding a rusty claymore to act as a target to ramp up the things. Had a harder time getting the 2nd orb because I’ve been rolling with 1 stamina bar (aiming to get the master sword + I haven’t made a ride back to Kakarito in a while). On my way to the good horses I got detoured and went to the castle to stock up on some weapons and got the Hylian Shield while there too. Doing the castle with 5 health, 1 stamina bar, and no powers really limits how much you can skip. Spent a few hours going through it all then glided my way out. Found most of the phantom armor which is nice for the damage boost. MM monster no longer feel like impossible bullshit. Little guardians in shrines are fuckers, though.

No-Teleport sounds good and pretty close to how I actually played but I enjoy going to the top of Towers and paragliding down too much

RazzleDazzleHour posted:No-Teleport sounds good and pretty close to how I actually played but I enjoy going to the top of Towers and paragliding down too much It’s been real fun so far! I just cleared my first Beast (Wind) because Revali’s Gale should pair up well with no teleporting. No ancient saddle (for now) means I’ve been needing to pay attention to where I leave my horse since I need to go back to the area to get him. I’ve built up a queue of poo poo to do on the East that I’ll probably do now then explore the jungle a bit. Playing without a set goal has been very relaxing. You just mess in an area for a bit then move on. Also I almost had a dumb death by gliding from the Rito town to the flying range... without any cold equipment. Had to fight 2 goblins in horse, steal a horse, then get the gently caress out to buy some clothes before riding back. Any other time I would have just bailed immediately with teleport but it’s gotten to me to actually move and consider how to survive where I am.

Blaziken386 posted:honestly you need the Thunder Helm just, in general. Thunderstorms go from "oh dammit I have to find shelter and light a fire" to "Aahahaahaha I get a free electric AoE blast every 10~ seconds, where's a big crowd of enemies " I just did Eventide in Master Mode for the first time and a thunderstorm helped me to trivialize the top portion. Most the enemies up there carry metal weapons.

I got so stoked at the skeleton horse but yeah it dying in the sunlight sucks super bad. I'm also too hooked on climbing to bother with horses that much, I pretty much never used one in my first playthrough, I just walked everywhere and climbed stuff all the time

The worst part about horses stoping at cliffs is that you can't be a dick and jump off of them to glide like Mario pulls on Yoshi.

Also you can hold target while on a horse to make it strafe which allows you to manoeuvre over and around terrain that they will automatically avoid while normally walking.

I fell to the allure of the shrine sensor and jumped down in the canyon between Hebra and Hyrule and spent like a god drat hour trying to get out. Ended up having to run all the way NE to the forgotten temple (cleared it while I was there), then scale that then get lucky with terrain to make my way out. On the plus side this little detour got me like 6-7 Korok seeds, some of which I had never found before in all my playthroughs

This is why I never bothered with horses more than absolutely necessary. There are other ways to improve the speed of hiking across Hyrule than them that are far less difficult to deal with.

So I finally started Master Mode. My very first experience with the floating platforms entailed a couple of bokoblins using them as sniper nests to draw a bead on me.... which promptly backfired on them when I shot one of the octoroks down on one of them (sending said enemy plummeting to its death), and the other wiffed a shot so badly he managed to put an arrow directly into the platform he was standing on. Since it was a wooden platform, and he was trying to shoot a fire arrow, this went VERY badly for him, VERY fast. Two enemies down and I never directly struck either one. This game, sometimes...

Floor 10 of beginner trials is the only point in the game where Master Mode was clearly balanced incorrectly. The only other place that comes close is Waterblight Ganon vision in Champion's Ballad, but I give the edge to Floor 10 because if you have near perfect execution you can do Waterblight Ganon vision the way it was intended but there is no way to clear Floor 10 on Master Mode without at minimum exploiting AI. A rare low in a game that is justifiably considered one of the best ever made.

I got to the final level of the trial of the sword with basically no weapons because I kept thinking they couldn't make another one harder and welp. I can't be hosed doing it again when the reward just isn't worth it
