Having a fingerprint reader that wakes up and unlocks the phone is something that I'll never want to give up. I don't like to press a button and then put my finger on the screen is one step too long. (back fingerprint reader is the way to go)

It's hard to tell when it isn't even using all the 4gb. I remember when Pixel phones used to be the fastest and smoothest out there and I really don't know WTF happened. I switched back to my OnePlus 7 Pro after using my P3 for a week and a half and drat the performance is night and day. I never really had an issue with stuff getting kicked out of ram on my P3 (even now) but OnePlus is just so much more fluid (beyond the screen refresh rate). My perfect phone would be something the proposed size of a P4XL and google cameras with a flat screen and the performance of the OP7 Pro.

TBH with the memory management issues I've had with apps getting kicked out of memory by me turning the screen off while they're still running and were the last open app, it could probably have 8 GB and use just as much. -_- My Nokia 6.1 with 3 GB of RAM had no issues with that before it broke.

The USB port/charging issues are getting worse and worse on my Pixel 2. I don't think I can hold out until the 4 comes out. But Google Fi is selling the 128GB Pixel 3 for only $600, apparently, so I'm kinda tempted to grab one. However between what some of you guys said (3rd phone in a year or whatever? ) and just my own unhappiness with the charging issues with this phone, I was thinking about tacking on the warranty. Has anyone purchased a warranty from Fi? On the page it says quote:Provided by Assurant, who will receive information about your device, phone number, email address, and service address. Never heard of Assurant

Ever since I set up my SD card to be encrypted, every time I reboot my phone, a notification appears that says SD Card Encrypted. I can't swipe it away, but if I tap on it it disappears. Any ideas what that's about, and how to stop it?

You reboot your phone once a month when you get a security update (or once every 3 if you have a Motorola). One tap a month doesn't seem that bad for all the slow, unreliable storage and data-leaking potential that an SD card provides.

butt dickus posted:Wasn't the Pixel 2 warranty extended to 2 years? Yes, I just recently got my 1.5yr old Pixel 2 XL warrantied because no amount of calibration gets these loving compasses to point in the right direction. Hoping I can get a refund like that other goon did. I've been a Nexus/Pixel diehard for years but I'm fed up about them loving with call recording. Apparently most other brands of phones can record without having to be rooted, so I might skip the Pixel 4. It's either get one and root it, which means I lose automatic updates, or I can just get something else like a Galaxy and eventually have to do manual updates once support is dropped.

As with a lot of things Samsung, it's gonna be "because." It's the same reason why I get a notification on my phone when I go out of range of my Galaxy Active watch with no way to turn it off. I really don't care that I left my watch at home, but there we are. Someone thought it was important.

There doesn't seem to be a dedicated Chromecast thread, so I guess I'll ask this in here. Whenever I cast a Youtube video from my PC, the Hulu app on my phone becomes unable to cast until I reboot my phone. Is there something specific I need to do to "unlink" the current cast or something?

Apologies if this is the wrong thread, but does anyone have suggestions on a custom ROM I should use for an old Honor 5X that I use as a secondary/work phone? Ideally I'd like to have banking apps and stuff like WhatsApp work and I don't care about rooting. Huawei's stock Android is atrocious with killing background apps.

Hey, gang. I have this Android for a long while and up until very recently, I generally used headphones to listen to things and I would dictate text messages. But about a month ago, it no longer will do both; I can only use the headphones, or use the mic, but never both. I can't figure out what setting is changed, and looking online reveals a lot of people asking this question, but only back in 2012, which leads me to think this issue was resolved or a new version fixed it? I'm sorry, I suck with phones and am not certain what kind of is; it's an Android that was contemporary two years ago. Also: I recently reset all the settings to default but the problem is still there, so maybe it's a hardware issue?

I have a dumb question. My wife accidentally removed her Home navigation card from her Android Auto home screen. Is there any way to get that back? Navigating to home in Maps while in Auto doesn't work. I'm going to try searching in Maps while but in Auto but I'm open to suggestions. Googling hasn't helped as every question about how to remove those cards says you can't so this must be a new feature. Edit: That worked, searching for it in Maps while not connected.
