I enjoyed his X-Force more than I was expecting to, although i haven't been able to pick up the finale yet.

yeah IIRC he complained about heavy editorial interference (at least one issue was released with no credited scripter, just a weird "original story by" credit for McKeever)

Does anyone ever use the name "Marvel Girl"? Jean should just switch her call sign. Also that outfit sucks. Her last one was leagues better.

I know this would require ~~editorial and creative communication~~ but in Age of X-Man Apocalypse's story was (spoiler block I guess if anyone is waiting to read the trade)

Apocalypse is in cahoots with X-Man to be the 'bad guy' for his altered world, where he preaches love and brotherhood in contrast with Nate Grey/society's rejection of romantic and familial bonds. It was all a ruse, but as part of the ruse he claims Evan/Kid Apocalypse as his biological son and plays the doting father, and ends up giving a big speech about how while play-acting being a benevolent leader and doting father he realized that love/community might help people evolve and become stronger.

Though it's not 100% clear how much anyone remembers from Age of X-Man and this motivation might not be the one Apocalypse ends up with at the end of HoX/PoX but

A lot has happened since then! He got out somehow and appeared in Deadpool and Thor, then showed up in Rosenberg's X-Men where he was part of the new Brotherhood of Evil Mutants until he found out the Magneto he was following wasn't really Magneto, it was Joseph pretending to be Magneto again. So then he switched sides to the X-Men and Kwannon beheaded Joseph anyway. He hung out with the X-Men not doing much for six issues, until a fully-demonic Magik ripped Cyttorak's Ruby out of his chest, crushed it, and then sent a withered depowered Cain Marko into Limbo.

So that's where he's at!

In one of the completely superfluous/red herring Hunt for Wolverine mini-series (Mystery in Madripoor) a bunch of X-Women went down to, well, Madripoor to see if Wolverine was alive and hiding out there. He wasn't, but through mechanisms I no longer remember Betsy's original body was reconstituted and her mind is back in her original body. Then her old body that woke up and Kwannon's mind was back in it. Neither of them have done anything of note since then.

"You had best not do that, Avatar!"
I think it was about time someone finally cut through the red tape and restored Betsy to her original body, while still keeping the cool sexy Japanese ninja around, because of course that has become a big part of the brand.

A-ha! Is this my chance?

The team was ambushed by a bunch of old Erik Larsen characters and SAPPHIRE STYX, capturing Storm, Rogue and Psylocke. Sapphire Styx, being a psychic vampire, fed on Psylocke's energy but accidentally "killed her" by completely absorbing her consciousness. So Betsy's consciousness was floating around the massive psychic sea of consciousnesses that Styx has absorbed over the years eventually finding the willpower to use Styx's own psychic power to rebuild her original body, "atom by atom" until she burst out of Styx's body like Neo and Agent Smith at the end of the first Matrix movie.
