I like the RTC theme for the sheer variety of alarms used, and buried amongst them is generic midcard heel riff.

RTC was a thing because of a Vince temper tantrum, which if he wasn’t such a piece of poo poo, it would be endearing.

Their entrance music was BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I was at a house show when they were a thing, and I gotta be honest, all of us mercilessly booing RTC at the top of our lungs when they came out was actually a ton of fun. So I can't hate on RTC. They were getting the most heat of anyone on the roster at the time, moreso than main-event heels like HHH and Angle.

RTC was undeniably a Vince vanity project at heart, but most of the things I've heard about the PTC doesn't exactly make me sympathise with the non-Vince cause for once.

Though you should keep in mind that my knowledge of the PTC comes pretty much entirely from wrestling fans.

The PTC is Actually Bad, and were routinely making poo poo up (most egregiously that Lionel Tate murdered Tiffany Eunick with the Stone Cold Stunner) as part of their fundraising efforts. There's a reason WWE got $3.5 million and a lengthy public apology out of L. Brent Bozell III as part of a lawsuit settlement.

Highlights include being one of the last True Defenders of Iraq Having WMDs in recent years, arguing for free speech by pointing out how Obama looks like a "skinny ghetto crackhead" so it can't be racist to call him a skinny ghetto crackhead because it's just pointing out the objective resemblance, and just generally being a loudspeaker for pretty much every lovely race-baiting, homophobic, Islamophobic, nostalgic-for-white-nationalism Trumpian talking point of the past few years, which got him an invite to that Social Media is Censoring Conservatives 'summit' a few weeks ago.

It's kinda' the most GIF-LetThemFight battle to be had, really, but the collateral damage wasn't worth it. It was ECW's "thumbing your nose at authority means adopting views used to radicalize today's Nazis" without the actual intrigue or talent.

The PTC crowd were already radicalized dipshits. There was nowhere for them to go.

Here's the thing; I did forget about the Truth Commission.
And they didn't participate in race wars.
So they escape being the shittiest stable by a sliver on a few technicalities.

Also: I hated the RTC for two reasons.
1) Their entrance "Music". I know it was supposed to be annoying but it worked a little too well.
2) The creator of the WWF Card Game Raw Deal was a giant Stevie mark so RTC was overpowered out of the box and then got support to make them more overpowered.

Not having to navigate the sea of egos tends to have that effect.

Booking the invasion is easy. Telling the Undertaker he's jobbing to the new guy isn't.

"Undertaker, you are jobbing to the new guy."

What's he going to do, quit? They just established a monopoly and passed on top talent to keep salaries down. What happened to Vince, the one man in control who was the opposite of WCW where the inmates ran the asylum?

Lucky for Undertaker Vince didn't want to job him to the new guy either.
Of course we were also thinking Taker was closer to the end than the beginning at that point...18 years ago. If he got pissed off enough retirement was not off the table. Hypothetically. Little did we know that no force on earth can keep Taker from grinding himself into powder.

So is the hypothesis here that if Vince wanted the invasion to work he could have told the guys who stuck with him through the Monday Night Wars 'suck eggs you're eating mat against the guys who tried to put us out of business' there would have no negative effects?

Although DDP was pretty good even I'd be hesitant to strap a rocket to a 45 year old if I had a roster as stacked as WWEs.
Of course I'd like to think there was a middle ground between 'world champ' and 'jobbed to Undertaker's wife'

Undertaker definitely could not have retired because he is very bad with money. Everyone on the roster was now a WWF wrestler. They were all under contract, so yes it would be a positive for Vince if he could realize that and teach his talent they were all in this together.
