So, level 70 Dragoon. It looks like I need to time all my 20-second buffs to the Life of the Dragon period, is that right? What's the best way to time everything?

Pretty late to this, but yeah cheetah7071 is doing you well. At this point I mostly just want to add a bit to the "enter Life if a buff has 30s or less on its cooldown" idea - this also means that if a buff has between 30s and 60s, you want to delay Life, but more importantly, if all of your buffs have more than 60s left, go ahead and enter Life (and then delay the Life after that). You'll be back to another Life phase by the time the buffs are available again.

It's pretty much exactly the same at 70 as it is at 80 in this regard, you just get stardiver at 80 which has a 30s cooldown so you have the entire Life window to use it since it won't be back up again in the same window regardless.

I'm always happy to talk DRG, feel free to hit me up with any questions.

Hey cool they posted the Viera/Hroth naming conventions.

tl;dr:

Viera: whatever who cares lmao (Literally)
Hrothgar: Slav names on either clan, but if you're Helion your last name starts with A* and if you're Lost your last name instead ends with *sch

Even the naming conventions for these dumb races are insipid and mostly an afterthought.

Yeah, I'm not feeling it. To Viera I go!

I can at least claim some bullshit reason that she has a Roe name because she fell in with Roes after leaving the forest. And then if that doesn't work, it's back to Roe for me.

They never do specify what it was, just a nebulous "betrayal." Given the point you encounter her in the story, you can make a guess that it might be because she spoke out against poisoning Doma, but nothing is supported.

IIRC Celes's rank may have been in part due to her being the first successful magitek knight. Her nebulous betrayal isn't anything concrete but there's plenty of evidence to her growing sour on the Empire (she 'torched' Maranda, time passes and she ends up in South Figaro waiting to be executed.)

As someone who likes Viera it's disappointing to see them get such a lethargic treatment in just about every way, even if I understand why it's been that way. I wish they had spent the development resources on polishing up other aspects of the game than a shaky questionable decision to add two more races. In general I'm more disappointed than I would have been if they hadn't added playable Viera at all, because at least then I could imagine how cool they could have been.

That's a pretty big aside!

But leaving that one aside, Garlemald explicitly keeps people under its control in a sub-citizen status that can only be improved through exceptional service or a 20 year stint in the Garlean military. You might also get to be impressed into the Garlean military, which may or may not make you a citizen after 20 years. None of the city-states appear to do this.

The alternatives would be worse, Limsans being just a bunch of disorganized pirates and Gridanians being at the mercy of elementals.
And Garlean Empire has also some darker goals.

It's kinda bad that the starter outfit, while a copy of Fran's, looks like some stripper/BDSM gear.

On the other hand it just makes conservative looking viera waaay better than your average viera.

Is that everything you have?

FFLogs apparently implemented a thing where you can see how much DPS your buffs are contributing to the group's overall DPS, and it's cool as hell. Dancers in competent groups are adding like ~1.2k to 1.5k DPS to the raid's overall DPS just by hitting Devilment, Technical Step, and Standard Step on cooldown.

Most roulettes give them for their daily bonus if you're on a level 80 character. Max level dungeons always drop them, as do the raids or ex trials. Grouping any of the max level content with a first timer gives you a bonus to tomestones instead of exp. Maps and A+ hunts do I believe as well.

Ah. I'm always leveling a sub-80 job. Does running roulettes still give tomes after the daily bonus?

The specific reason is not "so they don't look cheap" or whatever slut-shaming bullshit, but just that you can do cool things by changing up the shape of your character.

And we'll be okay.
Did Thok Ast Thok last night, goon advice of DPS-ing more made it surprisingly fun.

Slightly confused why everyone acted like "offering up my soul" was a huge deal. I thought it was established ever since the first Primal fight that the Warrior of Light is immune to tempering for some reason, probably Hydaelyn-related... but given the recent problems with the Hydaelyn wi-fi network I suppose it would be a legit concern that I no longer have that protection.

Iceheart actually transforming into Shiva and attempting to kick Ravana's rear end was amazing. Sure, it didn't work, but at least she tried!
