I don't think I've ever explored GB beyond the quick looks. A 2+ hour podcast is way beyond what I could handle. Why is there a containment thread? Is there something terrible about it I'm not aware of?

I said something to the exact opposite effect. Giant Bomb is primarily a source of entertainment, imo. It's game industry personalities playing video games in a pretty casual setting. They don't really curate news or articles. Hell they very rarely even do a review. They're more about producing media content. Personally, I just hit Gamespot's news page anytime I want to catch up on the latest announcements and developments in games. They're pretty up to the minute.

I find Giant Bomb to be impenetrable at this point. I used to listen to their podcast years ago but got annoyed with how little content they packed into 3 hours a week . It was mostly just rambling and then the one guy that was even remotely charismatic died and it turned into 4 boring dudes being boring. Then their "quick looks" are also like 2 hours long. Maybe there's a type of person Giant Bomb is for but it's not me man. Take that with a grain of salt though, because I think every single gaming podcast is terrible at this point.

He's a busy dude who makes way more money than I do and buys a fuckton of videogames, but he plays each game to maybe the 10% marker and then bows out. Different strokes for different folks. I think he listens to the bombcast stuff while commuting a lot and he likes to be hyped and in-tune with poo poo that makes him nostalgic, but he's usually pretty informed, too, so I guess there is a news value to the thing.

Yeah I think I have a launch Pro. It's situated in a wide open space, but anytime the room is even a little warm the thing loving goes. Like it's so loud that at several points I considered that maybe I shouldn't be playing it for fear of something breaking.

I cleaned out the fans on my PS4 Pro and it helped a lot with the noise. You could try that first, it's real easy.

Nah its fine. the console has an emergency kill switch below the temperature it would be damaged at It bsod's and says ps4 is too hot, please turn it off. My launch pro is loud but i fixed it...with noise cancel headphones

Also loudness is completely subjective, both in a perceptual and a "hardware" sense. Alternately some people have other equipment going in or around their house all the time that can drown out that level of sound, maybe without even realizing it.

I like both Bombcast and Beastcast, though I think the latter is a bit better, primarily because Vinny and Alex carry a lot of the charisma of the whole company. There's not a person that I don't enjoy on the current team but Vinny, Alex, and Jeff Gerstmann are the most interesting people to listen to (excluding Dan because he's just buck loving wild), between their natural charisma and their experiences in the industry. The company does also have the second best Dragon Ball podcast, which is nice.

Yeah Dan is kind of insane. I'd honestly listen to a podcast of just Jeff and Brad, but I do enjoy the current formats of both. I think Abbey and Ben are easily the least interesting and entertaining of the whole bunch. Like, during the Game of the Year discussions, things got loving wild at times (RDR2 being one of the Top 10 games of the year but also Most Disappointing game) and those two hardly said a word the whole time.
